Head for Cadwell with the TVRCC

Track day Monday week promises top action

Cadwell Park's Hall Bends
The TVR Car Club is holding a track day at Cadwell Park on Monday 22 May 2006.

The price is £145 (£5 extra for non-club members) and all marques are welcome. Cadwell is a great 2.173 mile circuit, often dubbed the mini-Nürburgring because of its gradients and 11 tricky corners.

Set in the rolling Lincolnshire countryside, Cadwell Park was established in 1934. The original track, with its fearsome and photogenic Mountain feature, grew to its current layout in 1962 and hosted the British F3 series the following May. It has three configurations: the rarely used Woodlands circuit, the short Club circuit, and the splendid, daunting full circuit.

These days, its car racing exploits are confined to club meetings but they are invariably crackers, the track's swooping nature providing fantastic racing.

A number of keen drivers meet the previous night in Louth for an Italian meal and a few beers and stay in a local B&B - details on this from Ian Bannister.

To book, call the TVRCC on 01952 822126.

Its quite sad how many TVR'S there are and how many people use them only as shopping trolley's.

Come on Chaps and Chappets you would be suprised how much good it does the car to blow them cobwebs out.. Or just to drive with spirit in a completely safe enviroment..

The biggest danger usually is getting there.

Why anyone serious about driving would want to miss one of the best track days of the year is beyond me............come to think of it.... many things are beyond me.

Hi Ian, do you have 1 or 2 spaces for non-TVR's as day members, as a last resort?

The Midland Speed Champ has a sprint there in June, with a fair few roadgoing cars. I could post a message on the forum board; if I act quickly there may be some last minute takers for you.

Thanks for reply Ian, message now posted - hurry up any TVRs, the last places may go quickly!

Cadwell is a brilliant circuit. It is not as fast as some of the more open circuits but is so much fun because it needs to be driven rather than just pointing the car in the right direction and stamping on the loud pedal. It is a circuit where you can really get a feel for the handling of your car because of the variety of the bends, uphill, downhill, sweeping, tight and mega tight. If you enjoy driving rather than just maximum speed this has got to be the best trackday to come to. Better still it takes more than a few laps to get the hang of so I'm looking forward to getting the circuit more sussed each time I go.
See you there.

Echo all of that Dominic. Driven it more than any other circuit - simple reason why, it's great. At least we're 'regulars' along with Ian et al.

Like others here, I don't know what's happened to TVR owners though. The TVRCC days used to sell out easily with Cadwell being one of the most popular. Perhaps people want trackdays run on a runway with no bends just so they can claim their 350bhp car is a great sports car for the money Come on guys/gals, get the cars on a circuit to see what they really are capable of.

Wish i could, but i cant. Snetterton was great fun.

I've been in the dummies seat twice for Cadwell and would endorse all that has been said above, its an awesome track and what TVR's were built to do.

Enjoy everyone, hopefully see you at the next one.

Can I be the first to say what another great day at Cadwell? Despite the weather the 5 sessions that everyone got before parts of the circuit resembled lakes and waterfalls (apart from those who turned up late) were still great fun.

Compliments to everyone for their sensible and courteous driving. Also, as usual, thanks to Bernie, Ian and the gang for organising the day and the beer/meal the evening before. It's always good to see everyone and have a social get together. Those who don't do trackdays should really reconsider their decision.

I'll hopefully post a link this evening to the photos I took.

Yup. I had a hoot on the occasions where a dry line was appearing .. first time at Cadwell so very intimidated by it's reputation and close armco whilst it was raining tho.

i will be back in the summer for some instruction in the dry (hopefully) and try to get to grips with this beautiful track.

.. and was Y18TVR's T350 the best sounding car or what? lovely

Being somewhat biased, mine was far nicer....with Mark's (Y18TVR) running it a very close second

I plan to book a trackday at Cadwell this summer to make up for missing yesterday. Probably mid July onwards. It would be great to have a mini TVRCC or PH gathering at a Cadwell day.

That would be great, i had to go to work at the last minute so missed out on the day ( which hurt ), but will definitely need a summer Cadwell fix
