Hiring track or airfield
Discussion
Has anyone here had any experience of hiring a track or airfield? I'm looking at hiring one for my company's launch day and can find lots of info on Teesside Autodrome, the only problem is that whilst it is a very reasonable cost its a bit out of the way. I'm struggling to get any info from anyone regarding Elvington, will one of the trackday companies be able to organise this for me?
Finally if anyone has any suggestions for anywhere else up north I'd be very grateful!

Call Ed Moore at Motorsport Events. He might be able to help you or maybe he would let you piggy back with a block booking on one of his days. Booking tracks yourself for exclusive use is a very very expensive and potentially financially risky business these days. The fees are bloody extortionate, so you need big numbers of users to make it affordable.
Motorsports events are southern, oxford southwards.
or www.easytrack.co.uk they've done a couple for my companies...top days, no probs!

If you're using your companies cars on the track, Teeside is a better spot. Elvington is a baron waste land, not very intersesting, filthy surface and too fast for a corporate day IMHO. The Teeside track is a nice twisty Kart track and you will not be faced with painting the front of your cars at the end of the day.
daftlad,
with respect, whilst I appreciate what you're saying there is another side to the story. elvington IS a baron wasteland BUT that means the risk of damage to the cars is minimal. teeside on the other hand is quite enclosed and whilst you may not get the stonechips there, the risk of doing far worse damage is infinitely greater IMO.
also, we cone out a circuit at elvington that keeps the speeds down - i agree that without these cones the layout there is more or less flat out at every corner.

No problems with your comments. I posted my opinion. Apologies if by posting an honest opinion I have cost you some business.
no problems daftlad - what you said is right - elvington has an awful surface. it still has it's place in the market though and certainly can't be compared to the likes of teeside.
amcphillips, best give me a ring on 0870 7441635 - we may be able to sort something out for you.

Another circuit you may want to try is 3 sisters. I work there on occasions as an instructor. It's tight in places but has room to play a little bit - and is not a flat, windy wasteland like Elvington, and is a proper race circuit surface. There is also paddock room, and a club house/cafe within site of the circuit for entertaining.
Circuit info is at www.racing-school.co.uk
It is not too far if you are in Yorkshire either, possibly nearer than Teeside.

(Just looked at your website and if you think a Licenced race instructor would be usefull let me know) - Cheeky I know but you've got to ask

Tony that actually looks quite interesting. Looks like it can be configured to have a few corners to keep the speeds down a bit! I would also be interested in your services once I have a date confirmed. Do you have any idea how much they charge for a days circuit hire before I give them a ring tomorrow? Don't want to seem rude when I choke on the phone when they quote the price!
If you go through the week Teesside can be had for £1,000. Weekend and its £4,000.

Not sure on the price I'm afraid. The ciruit has a few configs, the outer circuit would be ok - Depends what you are planning for the launch really, but the outer circuit is used when they do the Ferrari and Porsche thrill days so is suitable for the kind of road cars your company has. It has a bit of elavation as well to keep things a little interesting, it would easily cope with brisk demo drives, and with accompanied drives (if that was the plan)
Let me know if you need any driving services, whichever circuit location you settle on.
