Hi All,

Want to plan a trip with a few fellow PH members if anyone is around? The ring appears to be open to the public between 8:00am and 7:30pm on the following days:-

Thursday 25th May
Friday 26th May
Saturday 27th May
Sunday 28th May

From what I can see, 4 full days is pretty rare and I am thinking we could get an early ferry from Dover, for those based in South East on the Thursday and return on the Sunday. If we can get a fair crowd together, maybe we can negotiate a deal on the ferry and hotel or B&B.

For those who can't get time off work, simply join us for the w/e and for those can't justify the w/e to the wife, simply take the Thursday and Friday off work!

I have only been to the 'ring once last year, so do not profess to be the expert but I know of a fair number of PH's members who have never been but are keen to. I figure it would be a great opportunity for 'ring virgins and veterans alike to enjoy a few days at the great circuit, with plenty of other attractions such as the Nordschleife Museum, with the support of like minded petrolheads.

For some basic details on prices I have compiled the following:-

Ferry Dover - Calais and return with P&O Ferry £65 (Thursday - Sunday)
Drive Calais - Nurburgring approx 280 miles and 5 hours (work out your own MPG)
Hotels - I paid £40 per night last year
Nurburgring Lapping Pass - between £11 and £9 per lap depending on how many you want to pay for in advance.

For an excellent website on the Nurburging see Ben Lovejoy's guide:-

www.nurburgring.org.uk/

So are there any takers?

Cheers

Simon

4 days, sounds good. ill have to work out if i can budget that soon but very tempted.

i was looking at going friday 30th june / 1st and 2nd july. depart early friday, arrive in time for a lap and retirment to the bar! then 2 full days.

but 4 full days takes away the pressure from can i get enough laps done!!

keep the thread updated will probably not book the brands day to make room for this.

I'm already planning to be there. Going out on the Thursday and coming back on Saturday to avoid the weekend crowds. I think the reason its open all day on the Thursday and Friday is that the Thursday is a German Bank Holiday and most Germans then take the Friday off as well.

If you haven't booked accomodation already then you're unlikely to get any now i'm afraid. I booked over 6 weeks ago and even then I had to stay about 15 miles from Nurburg to get anywhere!!

Thanks for pointing that out Steve.

Ok, after a rethink, accomodation is a problem on the Friday and Saturday night so I'm intending on going on the Wednesday mid morning as the ring is open from 17:15 - 19:30 for public lapping and returning late on Friday.

Anyone about? Steve, PM me your no. if you want to meet up for some passanger laps etc.

Cheers

Simon

Hmmm. depends on how I feel on the day. Might drive up or I might not. Tough decision...depends on the weaterh, my mood etc. Yep, I have it rough.

Only one lad here who has it rougher. I think he is often rudely awakened to the sound of cars hurtling down toward Breidscheid Bridge. Poor bugger. I feel for him. At least I'm far enough away not to be bothered like that!

I will be there, Travelling from Bristol on the Thursday(early hours. Ring Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, then at SPA on Tues & Wed. Now that's what I call a propper driving tour!
Would like to meet up with some others for a few drinks, passenger laps, etc, (not in that order) Staying in Adenau & the Best Western in SPA. I will be in the Black Noble with red ringed wheels.

Would be great to meet up. Also leaving early hours on the Thursday from Newport, so not far from you. Which crossing you taking as perhaps we could hook up then, I'll be in a Gunmetal 350Z. Would also love the opportunity to sit in with you in your Noble for a lap or two if that's ok.

Steve I have no problem with travelling together, it would be fun.
There are a few Ferry options
1. P&O Dov-Cal 08.40 25/5/06 - General return £130
2. Sea France Dov-Cal 07.00 25/5/06 - general return £100
3. Norfolfline Dov-Dunkerque 08.00 25/5/06 - general return £54

I need to investigate how awkward a journey it will be from Dunkerque to the ring. I don't think there is much difference! I will place a post.

Almost none I should think. I just calculated the route with Autoroute for my Dover-Calais crossing, and it went right past Dunkerque.
