Saw this car and others yesterday; the Coram is far better than the ASONE but the Radical is still king.

James, you obviously have something against the guys who've designed the AS One as you take every opportunity to slag it off.

From what I could see the AS One was in a different league from the Coram which explains the price differential between the two cars.

Would you care to elaborate on your observations rather than just slag off the AS One all the time?

Point taken Ted; the Radical is the best thing I have driven and there are many pretenders. I believe as far as track day cars go the TVR T350 offers the best value at £36K.

No more ASONE posts.

The Coram and Westfield are sub £20K and that is where the market lies.

But a 'soft' TVR T350C designed for the road is a completely different animal to the Coram, Radical or XTR2?

Maybe Alex, but it actually is drivable on the road and practical too, the others, although road legal would be horrific to use on public roads on anything other than a perfect sunny day.

JamesC, you still haven't given us a valid reason why you hate the ASOne....

It is not British! That is a good enough reason!

The TVR T350 and the Radical are British!

The TVR is 100% British; what was that remark Peter Wheeler made about anything German in his cars?

This XTR2 for the money looks the Doggs Danglies!!!... We should all be praising the smaller companies that are producing exciting little cars like this, it gives us all choice! Something that is fastly being eroded from our daily life! Imagine a world where GM are the only Car manufacture fonking out thosands of cars that we are encouraged to buy because there is no choice!...... Give them a pat on the back, but buy whatever car you choose!!

I saw the Coram yesterday, didn't like it much. The front end is VERY stumpy, ther is no rear over hang and the colour (powder blue) wasn't flattering at all. All personal preference of course, but for me the Westfeild wins by miles. Even if the cars were equal, the girls at the Westfield stand would have swung it!

I saw the Coram yesterday too - nice car, but it's difficult to form a full opinion as that was an unfinished prototype. You're right - that blue was very unflattering.

I like the shape in general, but I thing that the rear deck really could do with a small Ultima-style rear wing. Trouble is you'd have to balance that with front-splitter, which would make it a little less public road friendly.

All in all though it looks like it's going to be a good car, and I wish Coram the best of luck.I'm especially interested to hear more about the V6 and V8 engine options, the V8 in particular. From what I hear it's essentially to 1.2 or 1.4 bike engines working as a V8 - should be good for 400bhp. If they can work that into a 500kg car, you've got yourself 800 bhp per ton. Should be fun!

But it sure stood out to the crowds and brought attention to itself, cunning marketing ploy by Coram, nice one boys.

I agree with Graham the colour was good; and so was the paint job! Well done Coram!

'I don't like the colour'. Dear me. It's a racing car! Who cares what colour it is! You can paint it whatever colour you like.

Surely the fact that it is a racing car should dictate the colour! Everyone knows that RED cars are 2.5% faster than cars of any other colour!
If you read my first post, you would see that I didn't say that I didn't like the colour (which incidently I don't) but that the colour was not flattering to the car. However I did say that I didn't like the shape, or should that be lack of shape?

Hello! (We were bound to pop up at some point!)

About the colour: the show lighting didn't do the colour justice. The pic's on this site (and most others in fact) make the colour look very pale. In fact it isn't. In daylight it's a much richer shade of blue - our web-site will carry some pic's of the car in daylight soon, so you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about. The colour itself is a Volkswagen colour, used on the Polo, called 'Summer Blue'.

Anyway, look out for performance figures soon and thanks to those who took the time to visit our stand and chat with us.

Steve,

Your car looked far better than the ASONE and it is British too! Keep up the good work.

I'd love to know how many of these cars Coram will have to sell in order to turn a profit.

Its a small market that is already over supplied so realistically what chance do they have? What is their unique selling point when compared to the Radical, Westfield, AS One, or even Caterham, Brooke, Ginetta, Ultima or even the Lotus/ VX 220? Isn't there a similar car in development at Quantum?

I've nothing against the company and admire the fact that they have got this far but having done something similar a few years ago, I just couldn't justify the poor state it would leave my personal finances in!

I suppose you've got to do it for the love as its not going to make you rich!

I think the main selling point is the price.

For what it is it's cheap at £16k for an estimated build price. I'd have one

Guys: you can build the ginetta, westfield & caterham for less than that and you can buy a 1996 Lotus Elise for £16K. Its a lot of money for a self assembly.

There is a huge difference between admiration and sales!
