I'm off on the 25th to Snetterton for the Evo Active Introduction track day. Ok, so it is only 1/2 a day, but anyone else going? Its via Ontrack (Octagon Motorsports) and should be a good introduction for learners like me.... I'm booked for the afternoon, anyone else going?

Cheers,

Paul

My cousin and myself are planning to go - though he has a new Clio Cup and has to run it in first!!

I remember watching some racing at Snetterton in June and it was ridiculously cold. January may be much worse - glad I don't drive a Caterham...

Did you have to join EVOactive if you have not already? I.e. pay 145 quid on top of the 50 quid for the day?

I too have a new Clio Cup which I have now dutifily run in and I am looking for a nice gentle intro to the track...

No, just phoned the number provided in Evo and booked it direct with OnTrack (Octagon Motorsports). The EvoActive "club" is for cut price full trackdays and a chance to meet the team and try out their cars - which is a good idea as it is cheaper than other such clubs (by a long way if anyone has checked it out!).

They had quite a few places left, so if anyone is interested then give it a whirl. As for running in Clios - just drive round the M25 a few times. Plenty of mileage and no chance of getting above 70, so no stress on the engine....

If anyone is going then please do let me know - would be interesting to meet up with other PH'ers...

Cheers,

Paul

From what I heard you pay £50 for a 'how to take a corner' briefing. Then you get to follow a 'pace/instructor' car for a few laps and then 20 mins on your own.

Is this correct ? If it is, then it seems a lot of money in comparison to finding a more competitively priced trackday and booking a tuition session, which at least will be in your own car and they should be able to view your own driving style and out you right on some of the basics of driving and then about how your own car behaves...

It does seem like a good idea as an intro, just doesn't seem like value for money to me.

Yeah that’s right, I rang about the brands hatch one but as I was really only interested in the track time wasn’t worth it, rather do another bookatrack day and pay the extra for instruction, which was well worth it by the way!

I took a load of S2000 trackday novices to an Academy day organised by Motorsport Events - it cost £99 and included a full day of exercises including car balance, braking, low speed handling and high speed cornering, you then get a final 20 minute track session to practice what you've learned.
It's all done on an airfield (so plenty of run off) and the 'most improved' wins a free trackday.

I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to start doing trackdays and needs a gentle introduction, the novices I took have all come on 'proper' trackdays since and had loads of fun.
