Quick Release Steering
Discussion
First off, i'd like to confess that i'm a gadget tart. Therefore it goes without saying that i just NEED a snazzy quick release steering boss (not to mention having no theft cover on the insurance).
So, having spent the last 10 minutes trying to get my breath back after laughing at the £170 that sparco want for one, does anyone have any experience of these things? Brands to avoid, what to pay (other than £170), mechanisms that are good/bad and general abuse all welcome.
Cheers gang

Can only find weld on ones on the rallydesign site. Was ideally looking for one of those bolt on efforts seeing as I can't weld for peanuts (not having a welder doesn't really help). Plus i'd be entirely unsurprised if a QR means MOT failure so i'd like to have it easily off-and-on-able just in case.
The sparco ones look like rebranded lifeline items (the fire extinguisher people). There are a few i've seen that are branded "Snap Off" and seem quite good. Don't really need anything special, so long as it's not wobbly and obviously rubbish.

Demon Tweeks ...

The one I have is none of those though - maybe it's not made any more - it has no brand name on it - I'm sure it came from DT several years ago. I had to take it off the car when I moved the car to Germany - it would have failed the TUV with a removable wheel

You're obviously not paying enough for your TUV.
You're not suggesting that it's possible to ... shocking, surely not!
Next you'll be telling me it's possible to get an MOT "in absentia"!
My GOD! I can't even contemplate such a monstrous idea but for feeling palpitations coming on.
I suppose that it could occur in some third-world sort of place. Never in modern Britain - everyone's too honest for that.
