Hi all, afraid im a newbie to the forum!

Has anybody used Motorsport Events for doing any track days? The days at Keevil, Hulvington and now Abbingdon (all local) all seem very resonable in terms of cost. Just wondering how they are run and what the surfaces are like at the different airfields? As tho the days are cheap, if you can eat through a set of tyres due to poor surfaces, it could be more cost effective to go to a proper track for a little bit more outlay!!

Appreciate any feedback from past experiances.

Thanks

I'll tell you after the 24th Feb as i'm booked onto the Abingdon day! They claim Abingdon is tarmac and not concrete so it should be fine.

Did a day at Bassingbourne (nr Royston) with them in October 04, it was a well organised day.

It turned out to be an expensive day for me though as I smashed the wing in after a cone jumped out at me

I've done a fair few days with MSE.

Top company, can HIGHLY recommend them... friendly, good value, well organised etc etc.

Go for it, you will have fun. Ed (owner) is also a championship winning FF driver too I understand.

Yes, top company, Ed & his wife Natasha are good guys. Best value and well-organised airfield days IMO

Try one of their Academy Days too for learning how to do all the stuff they don't want you to do on trackdays. Sideways fun anyone?

I've done three track days with them, all at Hullavington, and plan to do the Abingdon event in Feb. (I'm told that the Abbingdon layout is excellent.) I agree with what has been said about MSE. They are strict on safety rules (which they should be), but are really friendly and helpful. I didn't have a problem with the tyres on my Westfield at Hullavington, but the front tyres of my 205GTI suffered after two track days at Hullavington.

Top people, one of the best driver briefings Ive ever heard, well organised with sharp eyed marshalls in full radio contact with each other.
Have been to Hullavington with them, did hardly any damage to my tyres there, altho Brunters hammered them.
Am booked into Abingdon on 24/02 as first session of the year, and cannot wait.
Could be a bit of a PHers do by the looks of things.

Ed & Tasha run fantastic days. Ed taught me to drive on one of his days several years ago, and I went on to race with him in Britcar. Top guy, great driver and top days. I will be going along to as many as I can just to hoon around in total safety.

Have done quite a few days with MSE and can confirm all of the above positive comments.
If its your first attempt then a very good place to start.

See some of you at Abbingdon on 24th! Almost fully booked now.

I'll join in the positve responses, did a day at Hullavington, really well organised, safe, nice long straight then hairpin 180 deg bend, loads of runoff space. Good instructor, (Patrick Havill), loads of track time. doing some more this year. A+ !

Good outfit. I done Abingdon in December last year and I was very impressed with the surface and quality of the lay out, friendly bunch of people too.

Won't be able to make the Abingdon date this month as my rear diff is still whining after last time, but will deffo be back in time for the March event.

I did a Motorsport "Novice" day in May-05. I was informed there was max 30 cars on the day, but when I got there, I couldn't even squeeze in the briefing room as it was jammed packed with people. They did give me and the remaining half dozen guys a separate 5 mins briefing....

There was quite a few "novices" whose cars arrived on the back of the trailer,...

Overall, I had a great day, and the excellent instructor session made my remaining day more enjoyable. However, they let me down on two fronts 1- the 30 car limit was wishful thinking 2- I don't view prepped CTR/Caterham running on slicks as "novices". The purpose of the day was to intoduce people onto the track, not scare the hell out of them with CTR / Caterhams swarming over your rear bumper at every corner...

Maybe I was unlucky to encounter a bad day with Motorsport, but I've booked another track day with them @ Bedford so hopefully it will be better managed.

EDIT - May-05 track day was at Brands

I did one of their novice days a few years ago, albeit on an airfield, it was exactly that. Perhaps it was the lure of a cheap day out at Brands that bought the big boys and their toys out

Are we talking about motorsport events here? I didn't know they did events at Brands and Bedford.

TomT, why don't you check your facts before publicly posting. You are talking about MOTORSPORT VISION, Mr Palmer's outfit who run events at Oulton, Brands and Bedford Autodrome. Motorsport Events have never run an event at Bedford or Brands.

You should bear in mind how people have to make a living, and erroneous posting of your confusion can be materially damaging to good people like Ed & Tasha at Motorsport Events who do this to pay the bills.

So, for the clarity of anyone reading this thread, TomT is confused and not talking about Motorsport Events.
