Trackdays - this is worth reading before booking

Track Day Confusion
On the 2nd Novemeber a Track Day was originally booked by Track Action at Oulton Park . For some weeks and for reasons private to Track-Action it has been stopped from running future events at MSV circuits for 2005.
Please also Note that Track Action are not running the 10th December 2005 and I am informed they were still taking money for this event up until today. It is still listed on their website as being available. I know some of you have asked for a refund. Their number is 0871 2000 221.
For those of you who where their today, both Simon Taylor (Director or Track Action) or more commonly known as 7/10ths and his wife Louise were escorted from Oulton Park for reasons private to MSV. Track Action had attempted to run under another track company, Ultimate Days Out, who were unaware of Simon Taylor’s position and rumoured to have been mis-informed by Track Action today.
Please make sure you confirm with the appropriate circuit, not hear say, or members of Track Action, before booking any days with Track Action in the future.
On a more general note, is this the beginning of the end of some trackday companies? Last year it seemed as though a new trackday company was being set up every month, and at some time a level of market saturation must have occured. That was BEFORE MSV started running their own trackdays, normally undercutting the other trackday companies by at least £50.
I'm sure some of the more established ones like BookaTrack and Gold Track will still fill most of their days, as they have a loyal customer base, but some of the newer one's must have been hit very hard by MSV running its own trackdays. Likewise, with racing - with MSV now running its own racing series at places, the BRSCC has been given a right old kick up the backside. Any thoughts???

I attended Outlon Park yesterday, through Track Action. I was a little confused when I turned up and the Ultimate signage was everywhere, but they had my details on file and everything went through smoothly, my cousin even managed to get on track without even having a booking by blagging the Oulton Park staff (he still paid). Was slightly put out that the day was advertised as being 'road legal cars only' and half the field turned up on trailers!!
Anyone else there??

OK guys - let's be very clear about this. If you are ever going to book on to a day that isn't run by one of the pukka operators make sure you pay by credit card. That way you've got some comeback. Make sure that the day you are booking is actually being run by the people you are booking with and that you are paying the right people.
If you've booked a day that gets cancelled and you're not getting a staisfactory resonse from the organiser then get straight on to your credit card company.
if you're not sure about who you're booking with then I don't mind and I'm sure the Bookatrack guys won't mind if you ask us about them. if you're about to book with total pikeys we'll tell you and it you're about to book with a decent but small and not very well known outfit we'll tell you that too.

At the moment I'd stick to BookaTrack - you know you'll get the day if they've advertised it. I've had clients book on an MSV day there only to have it cancelled at short notice which just isn't acceptable in my view.
And... I think that MLR also have one in Nov - they're good people too.

All my recent trips to OP have been via Easytrack (or sometimes ET via Lotus On Track) and they are very good as well. I've also used Booktrack and again, never had any issues. I only really spend my track day money with these three nowadays and very occasionally Gold Track although mainly to do with dates and tracks rather than anything else.

I still don't get what's been giong on .. they been selling spaces on track days they've not got track time for? Are they still in business?
I've done lots of track days in the past with track action and they were always superb days and the track action people were never anything less than totally gracious, friendly and professional when dealing with me and the many friends i used to take along to share my car. They were one of my main choices for track days in hte past ...
