Nurburgring Tourest lap with family
Discussion
Planning our annual euro road trip and looking where we are on the way back we'll pass not far from the Ring.
I have 2 car mad boys who will love to see all the cars and thinking of stopping to do a lap in the Van,
I'm aware of the risks and how to drive as previous life did plenty of track days and a few visits to the ring, so aware how to "behave" on the track.
am I mad or worth a brief stop that way for a giggle?
Cheers.

Don't be a skinflint. Give them the full experience: https://www.ringtaxi.com/en/ringtaxi/bmw-m5-cs/
Last time I was there for a track day, I got talking to an American guy at next breakfast table in hotel. He'd taken his son and friend on this and they were raving about it.

That said, you could do both, in fairness; a taxi lap and also a TF lap in your own vehicle.

Coaches go round full of people, you just need to bear in mind
1. Its lethal in the wet, locals all exit circuit, wait and watch.
2. Huge speed differences, just be checking your rear view mirror and keeping right
Not sure when you last visited but coaches do not circulate in TF nowadays. 1. Its lethal in the wet, locals all exit circuit, wait and watch.

More people die in the dry. Wet is ok if drive to conditions and surface grip levels.
Speed differences occur on public roads also but yes check mirrors and predominantly stay right.

Ring taxi companies are great but there are age restrictions.Last time I was there for a track day, I got talking to an American guy at next breakfast table in hotel. He'd taken his son and friend on this and they were raving about it.

For sure more die in the dry at high speeds, i stayed out in the wet and it was treacherous, spun car and narrowly missed barriers on both sides.More people die in the dry. Wet is ok if drive to conditions and surface grip levels.

Don't see any problem with it at all, it's much better in the wet than it used to be because of all the resurfacing over the years in my opinion. You would do well to get in to trouble on there in a van. Go for it and enjoy it
Dunc.
I still smell understeer in a lot of places.Dunc.
Go for it, they'll love it.
We popped by on a family trip in a Citroen C2 with a roof box filled with a tent when my son was 5.
He still raves about it and we went back again this year.
My wife also took it around and one of her favourite stories is about when a ferrari passed her on the carousel.
Over the years I've taken a varied selection of pretty slow cars around, but never chased times, always kept a keen eye on what's coming from behind and kept out of the way as much as possible.
Camping in Cochem is recommended if you need to stay nearby.

I wish I knew at the time about this Hyundai as I would have gone out in this as well (obviously first!)
