...a present for my lad who turns 18 in June.

Can't decide between the two.
Palmer sport would be the GT cars in the afternoon, not single seaters.

I know all the minimum requirements, so just want a POV on the actual experience from people who have done them.

Great gift.
Both Goodwood and Palmer have good instructors and are well organised, guess there may be a subjective difference.
Goodwood has an appeal for those who appreciate the location and history (I’m nearly 50), Palmer may be more performance focused (assuming Bedford).

I did Goodwood last September and loved it! Really good choice of BMW’s and a couple of minis. Instructor really let you go for it, non of this restricted nonsense. Got a good enough amount of time in each one, really good organisation and really felt the history of the track!

I have been lucky enough to do the Palmer sport days 3 times and they are fantastic with great instructors who really push you. I have also driven both Bedford and Goodwood many times in various cars. Of the two for a fist time on a circuit I would recommend Palmersport at Bedford. There are more open spaces of run off if you get it wrong whereas at Goodwood you could easily end up hitting the bank. I don’t believe this happens very often but Bedford may put less pressure on your son for his first time on track. I am sure some will disagree but it is just my thoughts. Either way he will have a great day.

It happens. Often.
