Nurburgring Mon 12 Sept?
Discussion
-boulogne/calais/dunkerque
-E40 towards brussels
-Pick up Flemish signs for Liege ('Liuk')
-Skirt round the south side of Brussels
-Come off the E40 at Junction 38 (poorly signed for 'Eupen')
-head for Monschau
-N258 all the way to Adenau
Technically to get to Adenau, you need to leave the 258 and turn left onto the 257, but that's just semantics!
I'm catching a 10am ferry from Dover-Dunkirk on sat morning. See you there....

Have you ever tried the Prum B51 route then either 258 from Blankenheim or the Kelberg/Gerolstein? It looks further round than the Eupen "Highway to hell" on the map.
But it's *much* nicer!
We used the Eupen route on the way home last month and..well... never again...

The bit of 'WWII airfield' between germany and belgium isn't great, granted, however, the road once in Germany is superb and IMHO is a better route to get you into the spirit of things. All IMHO of course!!
Plus the Q8 in Eupen (on the left as you approach the roundabout at the end of the main drag) does amazing sandwiches (cheers Davyboy) - almost worth the slog up the E40 alone!
We've tried a few different routes over the years but have now settled on Prum, Gerolstein, Kelberg as the quickest, the last 15/20 miles or so really getting one into the spirit.
In May, coming back from the European GP weekend, one of our group decided to lead for the first time and his sat-nav "took over". Although clearly selecting the most direct route, it took us up the Eupen "Highway to hell". How aptly named. Apart from adding at least an hour to the overall journey, it was without a doubt the worst piece of public highway I have ever experienced, anywhere. As others have said, never again.
