Discussion
I'm thinking of having a go at this academy next year, just wondered if anyone has done it and is it any good?

Yes, I’ve done the day and also have quite a lot of experience competing there too. Obviously it’s a hillclimb so a different experience from regular circuit training. You walk the course with an Instructor first thing and are shown the line through each corner, apex points, which kerbs you can take, which to avoid, lots of useful info. The instructors all compete and know the course really well, some are even quite funny…. Next an instructor will sit with you as you have a go, this is the only hillclimb school that does this. You get a go about once every 20 mins, this takes you up to lunch which is included. After lunch, more of the same except without the instructor, they just let you keep doing runs, they will sit with you if you want and give feedback. I guess over the day you get about 20 runs, would take about 4 competitive events to get that number of runs so if you ever plan to compete it’s great value.
Although very technical, Harewood is the safest and least daunting of all the UK hills, there is actual run off and gravel traps on some of the corners so it’s a good place to learn about the sport.

Thanks for that, just waiting to see the costs and the dates. I'll be taking my GR86 and my nephew is thinking of going to in his BMW saloon . . .Although very technical, Harewood is the safest and least daunting of all the UK hills, there is actual run off and gravel traps on some of the corners so it’s a good place to learn about the sport.
