Any recommendations for insurance providers for a £100k+ car for a UK track day? Have used Morris in the past but their prices have doubled,.

I used to insure a £80k Porsche and Moris were the cheapest. £250/day if bought in package of 5 events.
When I considered upgrading the track car to ~£150k GT3 quote was about £600k/day. This was early 2022.
I assume now it’s even more.

Things are expensive indeed. I worked out GT3 with insurance, consumables, track fee, fuel would be £1500/day, and probably more now - and that’s before accounting for depreciation from extra miles.

Sorry this isn’t more helpful.

What car are you thinking of tracking?

It's a GT4 I'm going to track - likewise having used Morris it was £700 for 5 days in a £65k Exige 380. The only quote I've managed to get so far is £850 for one day!! I get that prices have gone up but even with the increased sum insured this is insane.

Have you thought about an annual policy that throws in 5 or 6 trackdays as part of it ? There are many companies that do that.

I assume you've tried InsureMyTrackday for one-off policies?

I won’t go into any detail but I know a man local to me who now considers £800 or so for track day insurance on a six figure car an absolute bargain ! And also an essential in the future . Accidents do happen regardless of the car or the driver’s ability.

Annual policy with track cover works out cheapest.

Classicline your best option. As many PCGB days as you want and 6 other trackdays per year as standard, with additional if you pay something like £60 a day. 10% excess.

Car will need to be garaged though.

Manning did my first GT4 but then lost the appetite for track users after a couple of total losses. Still worth trying.

Thanks all - best quote for one day is £850. Will have to go with that.

Too much of a hassle to car my day to day insurance as it's wrapped up with other cars at home and home insurance all of which have a heavy impact on discount for each other.

Wowsers ...... That's ridiculous...... Only a couple of hundred less than my annual policy which includes track days !!

Is the XS on that policy 10% value of car ?

I think 10% excess is quite common on track policies. Are you 100% certain that your policy doesn't include that?

Yes , sorry if I confused. 10% XS is the norm but I was just asking if the stand alone policy differed from an annual one ?

Having slept on this, going to try and switch to an insurance policy which includes track day, will try Classicline - Far Cough, who are you insured with?

I’m with A plan, I switched to them for my track car as they offered 5 track days included in the policy. But I ended up switching all my cars to them as I ended up paying less for all the cars plus 5 track days, than my previous single policy on my daily driver with my old insurers!

You have to speak to the Thatcham branch of A-plan specifically, but probably worth giving them a try.

spoken with ClassicLine - good quote, but as the track day is this Friday they can't cover it!

If the quote is really that good, I'd use a one-time insurer like InsureMyTrackday for this Friday and take the ClassicLine policy afterwards.

I'm paying £1.7k for my standard policy, ClassicLine have quoted just over £1k with 6 x free track days inc and unlimited PCGB track days. The quote from InsureMyTrackday was north of £1k, which would mean I'd be paying nearly £8k for the same level of cover!

Fair enough. Based on my policies I think the standard for that broker is to pay roughly 10% of the value for a day, with 10% excess.
