Tyrestreets have started selling a tyre from Otani, the BM2000?

https://tirestreets.co.uk/products/otani-bm2000?va...

Theyre suuuper cheap, so... must be terrible, surely? But then... i ran the accelera 651 sports for a season on my boxster, and for the money, they were alright...

Anyone even heard of them before?

I can get a full set in the 18" sizes i need for under £300... gotta be worth a punt, surely...

So it's both a brilliant track tyre, and a brilliant drift tyre...but don't those require slightly different compounds...or do they excel in snow rallies too biggrin

But I guess there's only really one way to test them driving - or get Jon from TyreReviews to test them.

It depends on what you want and expect from a tyre. I have seen lots of people start racing on "budget performance" tyres, when tyre choice is free. It's rare that they remain on them passed their third or fourth race.

At £55 each for 195/50 R15 they're about the price of part worn R888s...

That doesn't mean that they are awful though, just perhaps not as quick as another more expensive tyre. As you say, it depends what you expect.

I used AR1s for my first race but soon upgraded to slicks once I realised that everybody else was using them. It doesn't mean that the AR1s are rubbish, they're just not as quick as a slick

I'd be tempted to give them a go if it is just for track days and they are £300 for a whole set. What's the worst that could happen? They're a bit crap.

yep just trackdays, and dry weekends. i'm not chasing tenths of a lap time, just want something that is stable over a 15 minute stint and doesn't just turn to mush like most road tyres do.

might well give them a go... 10% discount makes a full set of tyres only £270, which is the cost of a single Nankang AR1. and if they're crap, well, they'll just go in the bin.

will report back if i get a set fitted.

Must be new to UK market. I’ve got zeknova(or now zenew) tyres on my S2K and they perform well on track and road.
