Other half has the fear after hearing about the death of the motorcyclist at Knockhill earlier this week, don't have any sort of extreme sport cover under my insurance and all they provide is a generic "motorsport" cover with a hefty premium. This is with Legal and General.

Should I jump providers or shop around? Any advice? The premium is nuts, I pay about £40 a month just now, motorsport doubles it.

If, I assume you are talking about for whilst doing track days, that is not motorsport.

Motorsport is a competitive thing, track days aren't competitive.

I declare track days and racing. As it’s all amateur stuff they noted it but it didn’t cause any premium jump. With AXA.

When I worked in the industry, Aviva were fine with hill climbing and sprints as long as it was properly organized/ sanctioned ( MSA IIRC?). Track days were no issue at all.

Recently jumped through the life insurance hoops for a new policy, partaking in an organised track day is not considered motorsport so no worries there.

Yeah I know, they didn't seem to understand that I am not racing or competing, that's the issue. So either my provider doesn't cover me for track days, or the person I was speaking to was just a bit confused.

I guess I should contact them again and try to speak with someone else.

Thanks for the replies, it's entirely possible the nice lady on the end of the phone just didn't understand that track != racing. I'm going to contact them again and just get clarification on the cover, I've read my policy terms cover to cover and obviously, there is nothing there, as to be expected.
