Hi

Has anyone here run a Ginetta G40 as a track car, I do not know anything about them apart from running Mazda running gear, and a Ford engine, are parts expensive to replace, and I was wondering how reliable they are to run. I have watch them race for years know and they look great fun, plus being RWD is a big plus for me?

I have one that I am racing and have done a few track days in. So far it owes me £200 for a set of calipers (I had a snapped bleed nipple and it was cheaper to buy a used set of 4) and £400 for a windscreen, other than that, that's it.

They're not fast but the handling is excellent and even with my limited driving skills, you'll be outlapping most road cars.

The fit and finish is not really road car level (panel gaps etc) and the windscreens seem to crack just by being looked at (I now have a poly screen) but as a track car they are hard to fault.

ETA. New parts from Ginetta are a bit of a rip off but there's a big enough community of racers etc that used parts are often available. Much of the more humdrum parts (wiper motors etc) are generic and available cheaply. The engine is a standard Zetec with some fancy bolt on parts
