Although not a track day I'm taking my son to see Gurston Down tomorrow.

Has anyone been before? Looks to be more of a poor mans Goodwood biggrin

I’ve competed there a few times. It’s a beautiful place on a sunny day.

The downhill start makes the first couple of corners pretty exciting to drive. The first left-hander is almost flat, but then while you’re still turning left you’re hard on the brakes for the tight right-hander. It’s all a bit sketchy, so there should be some good viewing to be had there.

It’s the only hill climb I’ve been too and really enjoyed it

I was learning photography, so took a lot of photos:

Well what a great day (with a twist).

I decided to not buy tickets in advance if the weather turned out like yesterday, luckily it wasn't so off we scooted this morning early doors.

We got to the entrance and was met by the nice two chaps with my cash in hand...."oh we are terribly sorry but we are not able to allow public in due to the field being a mud bath"....fortunately he said we could still attend the meet if we parked on the main road at the bottom of the drive upto the Gurston Farm.

The flip side of doing a 10 minute hillclimb myself with the buggy was a free entry each based on the situation with parking so chuffed as nuts I'd saved 30 quid off we went into the paddock.

I was very surprised with the layout, they have a great cafe, toilets etc at the top of the hill climb. So after a watch at the start and a cup of coffee off we went to the Karousel section.

With the weather yesterday I think today was limited in field, the total was half the usual but a fair few on show across the sections.

After lunch we made a move as my little new member of the petrol head club was getting rather knackered and cold but what a bravo day out only 30 mins away. We'll be back for another meet thats for sure.

Yep, it's for people who want to race, not just millionaires with the right connections.

Glad you enjoyed seeing the real thing.
