Join PH on track at Brands Hatch 11/04

Drive the Indy circuit for just £139 - here's how to join us

Following on from our two sell-out track evenings last year, we’ll be back out at Brands Hatch on Tuesday April 11th in collaboration with our friends at MSVT.

Join us for an open pit lane evening for just £139. It’s a general car track evening, so it’s open to drivers of any track experience and incorporates a mix of road, track and race cars.

We’ll be using the 1.2-mile Indy circuit, with track time running from 17:30 – 20:00. Noise limits for the evening are 102 dB static and 92 dB driveby.

Whether you're a seasoned local or someone looking to get out on track for the first time, track evenings are a great opportunity to get some track time without committing to a whole day with a relaxed atmosphere.

Head over to MSVT to book your space now. See you there!

Looking forward to it. I was at the PG evening last August and while it was busy, it was a really well run track day.

Would you guys ever consider a morning/early afternoon session, rather than into the evening? Due to an eye disorder I cannot drive in the dark... so unfortunately rules me out of later ones frown

May I ask if your condition is an issue from, say, dusk? Or is it only a problem once it really starts to get dark?

I was wondering if you might be able to get chauffeured home by a willing person because Sunset is 19:46 on 11th April, so you might be able to get perhaps 2 hours driving in if you start at bang on half-5?

Anyone have experience with these sessions?
Being only 2 hours and a mixed group I am guessing it could be carnage unless well run.

Love to do this. I raced (and crashed) a motorcycle at Brands back in the early 80s.

Catch fencing and hay bales hurt.

No quickish cars owned anymore, can I bring my 999cc Dacia Duster?

That's literally the same as any other trackday you go on though. At brands they tend to not let more than 20-22 cars out at a time to keep the track somewhat "clear" anyway. The marshalls there are properly on it.

I also tend to find with the evening ones people are less likely to spend 2 hours giving it absolute hell as the track conditions are changing as it cools down anyway

Based on my experience it's fine at Brands. At the last evening session that I did on the Indy circuit all of the race car heroes disappeared at the end of the previous days session.

All of the evening folk drive within their skills and gave each other space. It was a little busy at times though.

i'll be honest, i'll never do an evening trackday again.

Did one a couple of years ago. Not brands, but Donington - oversubscribed evening session meant everyone was keen to get going right from the off. busy track, no time to warm tyres meant a lot of people ended up in the gravel which bought out the red flags, then meant everyone was queuing again, which means they were even more eager to get out as another 15 minutes of the total 150minutes was gone.

think that evening i got a total of maybe a dozen clean laps in. it was basically - if you do manage to get out, then stay out until the next red flag brings you in - car then cools down in the queue, ready to go out again.

but the main problem is, its just not value for money - i still have to take the day off work, still have to drive to the track and back, and given you only get 35% of a full days running, the cost isn't 35% of a normal day.

i'll stick to a full open pit lane day - they arent that much more cost, but are so much more relaxed - everyone builds up slowly in the morning, the unreliable cars are normally weeded out by 11am. you then have a full 5hrs of track time left with people who know what they're doing. And even then, a lot of people start leaving at 3pm, so the last 2 hours the track is very, very quiet and you can get some really good laps in.

Can't disagree with anything brillomaster says and despite being an experienced trackday driver I would hesitate to go on a short evening trackday with a mix of inexperienced drivers sharing track with race cars especially on a short track like the Indy one. Full days are usually at least sessioned or experience based so people can take time to get used to things rather than feeling they have to get their money's worth by pushing it for the whole 2 hours

We don't have any plans for a full day at the moment, but MSVT have plenty on, their full calendar is here https://car.msvtrackdays.com/Calendar?utm_medium=m...

It was a really well run evening last year and from memory there wasn't a single red flag at our track evening at Brands or Snetterton. Evenings have far less spots available than a full day so despite being sold out last year (and the year before), it never really felt that busy on track.

Fingers crossed for sunshine again!

I went to one of these last year (my Vantage in the pictures).

Probably one of the best evening events I've ever done. I've done numerous TDs here in the UK and abroad.

PH keep the numbers lean and makes for a good event. Ben Lowden was welcoming to all and I had thoroughly great time! biggrin

In comparison, I went to another evening session at BH 2 weeks later and it was absolute chaos.

These PH events are totally worth supporting imho. If we don't, we'll lose them.

The PH evening last August was one of the best marshalled days I've been to. Lots of blue flags, and any over aggressive race cars had a quiet word in the pits. It was busy but very well run.

Thread resurrection.

Track evening arriving very shortly on Tuesday.

Weather looking sketchy and for light rain.

I always run a set of R888’s on my front wheel drive Skoda vRS. My experience from brands Hatch in the wet is it is like an ice rink. I have a spare set of wheels shod with all season tyres, what’s the consensus about fitting these if the track remains wet all evening.

My thoughts are that it is only a couple of hours so it’s not as if I’ll be spending all day on those tyres.

Interested to hear people’s thoughts.
