Anglesey Trackday this weekend...
Discussion
..So is there anyone else in PH-land going to this barring Me, Johno, Andrew, and Aidan..?? ..anyone been before, know the track..? any tips at all from anywhere ??
Cheers,
Matt.
I wish I was going with you....
I drove Anglesey for the first time last July. My impressions are:
a) It doesn't have the world's most sophisticated trackside facilities..come prepared!
b) The pit roads surfaces are terrible!
c) The track itself is great fun - but its quite narrow...certainly not your Silverstone/Brands Hatch quality of surface or width.
d) It is *essential* to get the speed right down before the hairpin its the tightest on track corner I've experienced.
e) In the wet it was a hoot! Although I could have done with the instructor believing that I did have some semblance of car control...on a trackday you won't have to bother with that of course...
f) The track does have the wonderful scenery from it. Very pretty.
g) The track rises and falls quite dramatically - with a couple of corners looking like the consequences of error were considerable - caution might be advised on those stretches...
Read the Circuit Guide and Enjoy!

It's getting much better !

See above !

Yes it's narrower than a GP circuit, though I don't think there's anything wrong with the surface. Tyre wear is minimal

Go in deep and it's not so bad, most people apex too early and make it a lot tighter than it actually is.

Instruction is key at Anglesey as it's such a technical circuit. Basically it's a sequence of corners joined with a couple of short straights that don't even allow you to take a breath

It looks stunning in the Winter when you can see the snow over on the mountains
g) The track rises and falls quite dramatically - with a couple of corners looking like the consequences of error were considerable - caution might be advised on those stretches...
The only place where runoff is limited is the hairpin and even then you've have to of had some kind of brake failure to hit anything. We've had people come off all round the track and the chances of hitting anything are pretty rare. There is one other place where you need to take it easy in the wet and that is as you come onto the pit straight as there is a small bump that can unsettle a powerful RWD car

No no no! The BaT guys may have another option for us and I was doing the research on behalf of all of us. Would not leave you in lurch, for one thing I'm too looking forward to hearing what you got up to in the officers' mess.
And I could also stay over on the Sun night if (a) weather holds, and (b) my test drive with the Radical doesn't come off.
