Apologies must be covered somewhere - can you give me 2 or 3 companies that do reasonably priced insurance. Ta.

TX.

Edit - yes for track days.

presume you mean track car insurance... A-plan offered me a bolt on package, think it was £180 for 5 trackdays or something like that.

Beware - claiming on a bolt on to your road insurance may go down as a claim for future road policies (I know a few people fell foul of this)

Never went "bolt-on" for any of the over 10 years of owning TD cars for exactly that reason.

Another vote for A-Plan Thatcham branch.

Use Reiss, I insure my skyline with a guaranteed value on track days, only track is not allowed is the ring in Germany.

you have to notify them before you go on , and its a 10% deductible if you bin it.

Thanks all. Various companies coming in at £300-400 for just one day although the Thatcham office of A-Plan 5 days a year does seem good value as they quoted me about +£300 for that over and above the annual cost of insurance with them.

Wil give Reis a call now.

They've always been the cheapest option either in a Boxster or my Abarth 595.

Premium seems to be around 1% of insured value.

Don't forget that your premium will be based on the insured amount, so people quoting £100 for a day's insurance are probably not insuring a £50k car.

My last track insurance on a £15k car (with £1.5k excess) for a Nurburgring TF is £105/day or £239 for 4 days...through MORIS.

ETA: just done a quote for the same TF trackdays next year (didn't do any this year as the car is being refreshed/upgraded), and it's gone up considerably eek
  • 1 day = £170
  • 2 days = £280
  • 3 days = £380
  • 5 days = £560

A-Plan Thatcham yes

The add on was only £200 although the excess is 10% of the value of the car so only really there to protect you against total write offs. Minot stuff you will be much better just paying for yourself. You need to remember to get a specific cover note in advance for each day (you can do this over the phone, I've done it from the pit garage in the past!)

Another vote for thatcham a-plan or reis. used both for many years including claims on road and track. No issues at all.

Just renewing my Cayman GT4 insurance. £1500 with A-Plan, includes 5 UK trackdays. ClassicLine £1000 including 6 UK trackdays, unlimited Porsche club trackdays and option to add euro days at additional cost.

Buying add-on daily trackday insurance from the specialist trackday insurers (REIS) etc works out very expensive for a £90k car!

Just check your excesses, and whether a track incident will affect the road part of your policy.

Well aware of the excesses (huge!) and yes, I'm assuming a claim will affect my road policy. Not worried about the excess, if the car were £40k I'd take it on track uninsured. I've never damaged a car on a trackday and don't intend to, but risking £90k is a bit too much of a risk for me.

The alternative is paying around £500 per trackday, still with similarly huge excesses.
