Donington 30th October track Day - Whose going?
Discussion
I’ll be there, Yellow Cayman GT4. Not done Donington before so looking forward to it, but really hoping it stays dry. Forecast looks okay I think?
Most recent TD had a horrid day at Oulton park about a month or two ago where it just utterly poured down all day and I was on a fresh set of Cup 2s that did not inspire confidence.

Ah wicked , plenty of people.
looking forward to it, I just installed a new diff ( Kaaz 1.5 way ) and redone my rear hubs and bushings finished putting it back together last night.
Off for aligment tomorrow, then load it up and bring it down from manchester on Sunday morning.
I think its forecasted to be sunny / or at least dry
Hopefully my workman ship holds together

I ran Cup 2s on my Z06 and in the dry there wicked, i can only imagine how scary in the wet it would have been Most recent TD had a horrid day at Oulton park about a month or two ago where it just utterly poured down all day and I was on a fresh set of Cup 2s that did not inspire confidence.
the reason i swapped my diff this week was it had a welded one in it and my god it was lethal in anything other than dry weather

They’re fantastic in the dry, but in the cold wet just completely different beasts, at least on my GT4. Confidence took quite a knock as I find the car quite snappy with little warning in those conditions, so I’ve gone and got myself an ARDS instructor for the day the reason i swapped my diff this week was it had a welded one in it and my god it was lethal in anything other than dry weather

I drove our GT4 when I was in middle east on track with those tyres there very good in dry, My Z06 was just borderline sketchy even with 335 profile Cup2s on track when you go past the limit your facing the other way.
The skyline has Some Nangkang NSr2 on it right, its a torque monster though as its not Ls V8 Swapped so its going to be interesting what its like in the colder climates as I only ever tracked it in the middle east when the ambient was always 30 degrees C.
when I had the welded Diff in it last month it almost switched ends on me in the damp with partial throttle so i think ill be taking it easy for a bit
Instructors always a good idea, ill make a point of following you around for that part! haha

Well that was a day of pretty shocking driving standards, and I counted 10 red flags in total. Think I’ll be giving weekend days a miss going forward.
I think there was about 15 or so people at the briefing who said it was their first ever track day, I can’t help but think a lot of them left early which would be a shame.
Pretty much had the track to myself in the later afternoon though, which was nice.

That sounds like it would have been a royal PITA tbh.I think there was about 15 or so people at the briefing who said it was their first ever track day, I can’t help but think a lot of them left early which would be a shame.

well in fairness the afternoon conditions were quite challenging!
And yes, i think i was the last red flag... theres only one dry line into redgate, and if you stray off it, you're off...
Personally, i thought the day was pretty good! i always expect a lot of red flags at donny, gravel traps on every corner will do that. But there was a big difference in driving abilities - seeing a few blue flags would have been good at times.

I had fun, I had a few issues with my car though way to much camber on the front, I learnt the track in the morning and really started to enjoy it then went out in the wet and my god it was sideways in 4th gear on the exit of turn 1 then no grip on the front end at all so like being on ice , some of the other road cars were just so fast in those conditions i just couldn't go any quicker without going across the grass.
i enjoyed it though, my fuel pump failed ( intermittent Issue ) towards the end of the day so couldn't put my foot down as was running lean.
I thought the day was good though, nice bunch of people just a shame the heavens opened up but late in the day it was lovely just the sun on turn 8 was a killer I think its was Coppice was just a shame the car started to play up then.
