Not been to keevil for years. Wife and son thinking of coming to watch. Are there any facilities? Toilets? Cafe?
Cheers

If with Motorsport Events, it's usually 2 chemical portable toilets, a burger van, & they have a large tent for signing on, which can also be used for shelter.

It's basic but works well enough, especially in drier/warmer seasons.

Like all airfields though, if it's windy/raining, without a tent, you maybe spending most time in your car. Take a tarpaulin/large plastic wrap if you're going to be putting anything on the grass when you're on track to keep it dry.

It's a fun circuit with good layout, wide track & good visibility. Easy to learn, but difficult to get right. Faster car lap around 1.15secs.Only one small raised area to the side of the track (it's the 'H' on google maps after the first right hand bend, a low bund), the rest of it is flat/all run off.

Have a great day!

Anyone doing this Friday, 21-10-22?

Looking a bit showery... If it rains, will be the first wet TD I've done this year which is amazing!

Contact Event Organisers beforehand ref booking your family in. I say this as it's a working MOD base, so everyone has to be signed in for access. Not sure if they'll have to be booked in as passengers (with extra costs & crash helmets etc).

Hi guys

I didn't realise there was a TD this Friday, I'm going to find out if I can book on.

Keep an eye out for a red Clio RS200 Cup

Weather was on and off here in Bmth all day, I am booked for Keevil mid November so that could be interesting.

It absolutely pissed down all day. They brought lunch forward because the track was waterlogged and finished today by 3:30 pm approximately.

They tried their best, the weather was just SH 1T!

I ran my Skoda with triple eight‘s with only 1 mm of tread. They were absolutely useless, so much so that I had to leave the traction/stability on as the car was spinning up at 90 miles an hour in fourth gear and drifting all over the place . Huge hat off to the guy in the black mark seven golf GTi. Running road tyres which seemed to cut through the water like a knife and with 400 brake horsepower, and to actually lap to me, (oh the embarrassment).

Well the weather was a huge let down.

I arrived around lunch time, just as the heavens opened. I didn't even get out from my car, let alone going out on track.

I hope you guys still had a good day.

It was as good as it could be under the circumstances.

My two sons, who were drivers, had a great time in my car and it survived!

The weather was truly atrocious!

A bit sad that you couldn’t get on track, but given the weather, you didn’t miss much and the track was closed by 3:30 pm.

That's good you guys managed to get a few laps in, and yeah, the weather was really against us. I left the same time as the 3 black Clio 182s, I was in my Clio RS200 cup.

This would have been my first time at Keevil, out of interest, what's the track surface like?

It feels fine to drive on, pretty grippy in the dry. I did have a lot of black debris on my wheels at the end of the day. Really strange considering the amount of water so all I can assume it is very loose fine grit from the surface of the track.

Over the years, I have done Keevil, at least half a dozen times, but it is more a fun track than a disciplined circuit. A day that you can really push the car to its limits and you know you aren’t going to kill yourself!

According to the odometer, we did 100 miles on track that day!

Just to get a feel of how much water there was, on the way back, we went through a flooded road inbetween villages. I went through in first gear, keeping the revs up at a sensible pace in the motorhome, pulling the trailer. When I looked in the mirror the water in the road was going over the top of the trailer, wheels, and mudguards!

I found after a while that there was grip on the back straight only on the left and on the main straight approaching the pits on the hard right.

Apart from those two areas it was all over the place!

just to add, I was annoyed that I left my camera mount at home as we had so many , "moments". Truly unbelievable weather!

Big turbo/little car combo didn't really work on this lake.
First TD the Fam had been to. They weren't impressed with the weather. So we were back hone for 11.30 🙄
