Hop I'm alright posting a link to a trackday here, but I was just wondering, is anybody else going to this one?

It's also a novices day, as I've never been on a track before I thought this should be the place to start.

Details are here http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/trackdays/event-details.asp?ProductID=1033

I'll be the little black clio, so pop over and say hi if you are there! :wavey:

this looks like the sort of thing I want to do,I want to drive the cerb a bit more but after reading about how unpredictable they are I want to be a bit more confident driving it. my other half has got to get time off, so we might see you down there.

Would be nice to meet some more people from here, let me know if you do make it down. My lady should be coming with the camera, so I'm sure she can pick up a few snaps of your debut if you make it along.

Yep - I'll be there. Mine's the titanium S1 Elise - first time on a track for me so should be interesting! Insurance for the day was more than the charge for the event!

Tell me about it, not sure if many people actually take the insurance on the track days...

just got a quote for £200 with £1800 excess

also spoke to some one at brands to find out if they did their own insurance and he said it wasn't worth it.

don't think we're going to bother, and just be extra cautious

not booked yet waiting for mark to get time off

can't wait, my first track day

I know what you mean about the insurance, mine is 'only' £120. Promised my lady I would book it (the track day is a b'day pressie from her!)
Can't wait to go though, should be a good day out

I paid £115 with a £1200 excess - hurts to pay the equivalent of a fifth of my annual premium for 1 day but worth it for the peace of mind!

I might just pop along to this. I need to lean how to use my camera, and this would be the best place.

Just snapping. The oil burner is not really a track car, and the RX-7 isnt ready yet.

Does anyone have any advise on suggested tyre pressures for a wet or dry track?

Hi guys, also getting nervous thinking about Thursday but pleased to see other PHers will be there. For some reason I assume you'll be generally decent non-tosser types

Been quoted £125 with £1000 excess for £11000 of cover. This was with www.moris.co.uk.

Then I started reading other posts and the suggestion seems to be only to buy the level of cover you think you might need in case of an accident, not to insure for the value of the vehicle. So I'm going to ask again for £5-6K of cover instead.

I got the same guy at Brands who said not to bother Reckoned the worse that would happen would be a trip in the kitty litter and your excess would barely cover your costs so why bother.

So do you all promise not to hit me then? Oh, in that case I won't get cover

Cheers

hi, i hate to put a dampner on this, but a word of warning, myself and a couple oh ph'ers did one of these days a few months back, same company, at brands. it was meant to be a novice day but there was race hondas on slicks etc turned up, and the was over 100 cars, so you had a long wait in the pits ( upto 40 mins) hopefully they have sorted it by now, as brands is a great circuit to start on.
Have fun and be safe.

I hope this isn't the case! Hopefully they have learnt from the last time.
Can't wait now, should be good to get the Clio out on to the track to find out what it can actually do...

Looks like I'll be seeing you guys there as long as I can sort the electrical niggles on my Cerb'

As for the insurance, I looked into this and was quoted £330 for both Brands and Elvington (C.R.E.A.M.) at the end of Sept, however, what you do have to ask yourself is, are you going to do £1800 of damage? Most policies have a fierce excess, that tied in with the premium, and you're a long way to sorting out your problems.

Hope to see you Thursday

Tim
