Thruxton today, first time!
Discussion
What a track! very fast corners, (except the slower ones ) connected by flat out straights.
Took a while to feel confident made easier by tailing slow to medium paced cars in the beginning and by late morning a reasonable amount of confidence was had...
Certainly not for the novice, (imho) with passing happening on both sides, (saw a car passing down the middle in-between 2 cars that moved over to the left and right on a fast straight!).
Certainly enjoyed the day. Standard of driving was good and fast!
A minor flaw for me at about 4pm was on the fastest section, Woodham Hill, a very fast thunk, thunk, slightly hopping inner wheel and a pull to the left had me slowing instantly and crawling to the pits. On investigation I believe the outer nearside CV joint is saying goodbye.
I hope I didn't hold up too many people, ( there was some fast cars there) with my orange wheeled Skoda.
Definitely do it if you haven't yet.
Till next time.

Sounds great, do they do road car only days? I feel like our slow little fiesta might get swamped.
Not that I know of, but noise is so tight it's usually road cars or v well silenced track cars, I couldn't track my old m3 there & was fine even at other noise restricted tracks, Bedford & Goodwood etc I finally got there last year after not being able to for years because of noisy cars. I loved it too. Like an idiot I’ve now replaced that car with one that is too noisy again.
Don’t be worried about going there with a slower car, the track is really wide and anything faster will blow by you on the “straights”. On the day I was there a few people were in really slow stuff, track car broken and using the shed or just having a real cheap low power track car but none of them were a problem

There was plenty of ordinary cars ranging from Honda civics, a Porsche Boxster, a Porsche Turbo S, Clio 182, a smattering of Peugeots, the usual MX5’s, a couple of MGs plus many more quiet cars.
Certainly not intimidating so if you haven’t been, give it a go.
I took a couple of videos with my GoPro so if I’ve got time to download tomorrow I’ll put it up.

Just been checking out my car.
The front R888 tyres were barely 5% worn as I had switched them round from the rear after one track day. I would say they are now 70% worn so the track surface is quite aggressive. Saying that, being my Track Day only car I was happy to push it to my limit! That means probably close to 100 mph on the odd fast corner so the tyres were taking a beating.
Just uploading a GoPro video to YouTube so will post up and you can have a look when it’s complete.

How annoying! Plugged in an external mic and it has cut the sound off for some reason...

It does look like a good track; a decent length with some elevation.
I've heard stories that the surface at Thruxton can wear tyres quickly. How did you find it OP?
It is hard on tyres, you lean on the front left hard through some long high speed corners. Easy on brakes though unless you are in something really quick, basically 2 proper braking zones, the rest just a dab or lift (driving a 280bhp hot hatch) I've heard stories that the surface at Thruxton can wear tyres quickly. How did you find it OP?
