Spa track time
Discussion
I know there is a requests stick but it doesn't get much use so forgive the new post.
I have the opportunity to go to Belgium wc 4-7 July and have a life goal to drive spa and that week is pretty much the only time I will ever have to go with my car, so kind of a big deal.
Does anyone know if there are any track days or experiences with own car that week? Maybe club events that are not advertised?
Much searching seems to suggest I have the worst week possible.
Many thanks for any help.

all the best for the time that you are out there, but... never say never.
if one of your life goals is to drive your car round spa, then take a week off and go drive spa. im in the midlands, so used 1 day to drive down, one day on track, and one day back again, simples. And everywhere in the UK is at most a day from the midlands, so 5 days total.
Whats stopping you?

Totally agree, go and get it.
However a positive attitude only gets you so far, there are a number of significant obstacles including my disability, lack of income and getting an available copilot to overcome.
You do have a valid point though, cheap ferry and pick your time gives you options.

Fun Spa anecdote. Dad was racing there and his gearbox blew up in qually on Friday. He had two races ahead of him that weekend, the first of which was on Saturday morning. He had another gearbox but it was at home in Surrey. Whats stopping you?
Cue Spa to Surrey and back through the night, me driving his Alpina D5 whilst he recharged his batteries in between arranging the channel crossing. I think the whole thing took 14 hours. We got back to the paddock at dawn and set about changing the gearbox. We unfortunately missed the Saturday race by under an hour- but we at least had a car for the Sunday race!
Hope you get to do it soon.
It's the same for me, always wanted to drive Spa and finally booked to do it next Monday, 13th June. Also in the West Midlands, driving there on Sunday, track Monday, back Tuesday!! Will be happy if i just do 1 lap, although obviously will hope to do a few more!!!
Gone through the GRRC who I believe have organised it through Gold Track. Not cheap once you add tunnel crossings, etc. but a tick in the bucket list. Can't wait.

given you'll likely be more relaxed on tuesday, dont forget to a) drive the old circuit as much as you can before you leave (including stopping off at Les combes to spectate a bit if the trackday is still on) and b) visit the spa francorchamps museum in Stavelot. lots of cool cars and racing memorabilia.
also, get a pizza at acqua rossa in francorchamps, which has a ferrari f1 car in the basement.

Don’t forget to also go into SpaRacing close to the old Stavelot banked turn, and have a look at the collection of cars in the showroom part to the rear of their shop. Always some very interesting things in there. also, get a pizza at acqua rossa in francorchamps, which has a ferrari f1 car in the basement.
