Evo Track Days...
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking to book a few track days for the summer and a friend told me he'd booked an evening session at Bedford with Evo in June. When I had a look, I saw that they're charging £199 for an evening session as opposed to the £139 that MSV charge. Are the Evo events 'special' in any way, with low numbers etc, or are they just cashing in on unwitting readers?
Cheers
Chris

Unfortunately they've decided to join the other higher end TDO's and have whacked the prices up. I did the Goodwood dates a couple of times, but f** that this year. I love Goodwood, but at that price it should at least be open pitlane. Adding up the numbers (fuel, ticket and insurance) I'd be looking at a day costing potentially £1000 there. That's not including tyres and brakes either. Silverstone GP just leapt past the £1000 figure too with the increases in fuel costs and £600+ ticket price inc garage.
Nobody said motorsport / trackdays would be cheap, but.......

Yeah prices do seem to be inexorably rising (like most things) but I guess my question was more about if Evo are a 'high end' TDO like RMA, and what exactly they offer differently to a standard MSV event.Nobody said motorsport / trackdays would be cheap, but.......

I don't mind plenty of cars on track, especially the more open longer tracks, makes it interesting. You can get lost at Bedford even with a full quota of cars on track, (well nearly!).
Costs have all gone up, the most reasonable seem to be Bedford, Snetterton and Combe. It's early in the year admittedly, I'm doing Bedford all day, open pitlane on Monday @ £159.00. Great value.

And that’s out of taxed income …….A few TDO’s offer free photography and basic refreshments.
In fact I think MSV are the only ones who don’t these days.
Maybe I’m the minority but I like having other different cars on track with me. It’s nice to see what my 90’s tin can can keep up with lol. Being out there on my own all day would be quite boring.

Did the Evo trackday at Bedford last night. Essentially it’s an MSV event hosted by some Evo staff. No refreshments, no goodie bag and no photographs (Evo photographer present but for their use). Nice to chat to some of the team though and with only 33 cars on track it was a good event. Great mix of cars and people, no tossers so all in all, worth the £189.

is that 33 cars registered for the whole event? that's low, good value if so.Goodwood can't be too busy, any incident could be very serious there. low on track numbers make it a lovely circuit and it's often opl late afternoon.

Personally I like a busy track. For me there is nothing worse than having an empty track in front and behind you.
I like being pushed from behind or following a better driver to improve my lines.
If I’m on my own on an empty track my mind wonders to what my wife is cooking for dinner! It’s then that I’ll make a mistake.

I get that completely. First stint was busy with the opportunity to do exactly as you mentioned. Middle sesh empty then last one a little busier. Good mix. I like being pushed from behind or following a better driver to improve my lines.
