Oulton Park - Tomorrow
Discussion
Our 1st track day at Oulton and with BAT. Well done Jonny and crew. I agree the briefing was spot on. Standard of driving was v good and the marshals also did a good job with the blue flags. We broke our gearbox (red radical clubsport)so missed the afternoon session. Oulton is a fantastic circuit we will be back to A.S.A.P.
Jonny was spot on in the briefing ref the blue flags. If people are using their mirrors properly and driving sensibly, then they should see faster moving cars from 2 corners back, assess roughly where they're going to pass and make sure they move over and not spoil a lap.
Blue flags shouldn't really be necessary but having said that, the marshalling was simply excellent and their useage did mean that those who chose to ignore (or forgot !) Jonny's comments, had an obvious reminder.
Running under waved yellows through the two cars (the red Jap thingy & the mini) parked up very close to the track in the last 15 mins before lunch, was intelligent marshalling. They knew the track was closing for lunch shortly so decided against closing the track under reds and losing a valuable 15 mins track time, choosing instead to clear the track of the cars during lunch. Hats off to those guys.
