Silverstone post 2021
Discussion
Hopefully they'll run a range of trackdays, from high numbers with lower costs, up to very low numbers, exclusive events.
i've done plenty of trackdays, but never done silverstone as despite being the closest track to me, any full day there has been £400-£500, which is twice the price of anywhere else. did see a few third party TDOs were offering a date for somewhere around the £200 mark, hopefully silverstone will offer at least one day where the price starts with a 2.

Booked direct with Silverstone on he GP circuit last month. £315 for full GP, garage and a coffee and bacon roll. Well run day, minimal dheadery and a wide variety of cars and participants.
National circuit is well worth the effort but is hard on brakes.
I don't like the lack of competition but what can you do?

FIVE HUNDRED and forty nine pounds for a random tuesday in march?!? Screw that and a bag of chips.
Looks like i'll never do silverstone then. Shame.
It does appear they seem to be under the belief that they are SILVERSTONE so can charge those sorts of prices for out of season days. Time will tell if they can or not.Looks like i'll never do silverstone then. Shame.
The days of the ~£300 March / November Full GP trackday seem to have gone don`t they. Big shame, I always liked those days.

That’s what you can do when you have a monopoly
I am not sure I understand. What monopoly do you think they have?If you're saying they have the monopoly over the use of the Silverstone race track, I don't think it is a monopoly. It is just theirs so they market it the way they want.
With Silverstone only doing 12 public track days for the whole year, they obviously reckon they will get the demand.
There might still be enough owners who like that something a bit special, bit exclusive, no riff raff and chance to show off their posh tools. Track day organisers already exist for that cadre, they’ve just been cut out of the loop.

the problem is what next?
Jonny Palmer like to be a bit of an entrepreneur and all the circuit hire charges are pegged against as to what Silverstone charge, so do we think that the MSVT team will do MSV only track days in 2023 at tis circuits? If they do I guess they'll charge what they want as well. Although I kind of thought that the purpose behind the change at Silverstone was to pocket the margin the TDO's make..
anyway £££££

I never thought the normal TDO's made much of a margin. Sure the super-ultimate premium ones might but those charging £250 to £400 per day per car for Silverstone probably where not creaming in profits.
I'd guess that limiting Silverstone public trackdays will increase demand on the genuine test days, no longer can race teams use public trackdays as cheap testing. It will also I'd assume force the experience or hospitality day crowd to hire the circuit privately if they want to run an event at Silverstone rather than piggybacking on a public trackday.
Seeing how MSV react to this next year will indeed be interesting.
