MK1 Octy vRS, (MK4 Golf platform ish).I want to upgrade my front, (and probably rears as well) discs.

Currently running standard 312mm vented front discs with DS2500 pads.

Looking at a grooved disc that will handle 10+ TD's a year. Car rarely is used on the road.

After a bit of surfing, Tarox F2000 looks like a fair bet?

Open to experience and suggestions.

I've found that brembo and pagid make pretty good discs.
But, looking for an upgrade then I'd talk to a specialist, back in my subaru days that would be godspeed brakes or AS performance, now I've got a clio it's Road Track Race and Kam racing.
Any VAG brake suppliers people generally go for?

Just thought of Cambridge Motorsport where I get my pads from. Will give them a try.

Strangely enough they recommended Brembo discs as they thought they were still made in Italy and of good quality, (Although strangely although they sell a myriad of disc pads, they don’t sell discs!).
A quick shufty on the web and it seems that Brembo moved their manufacturing operation to China a few years ago, no surprise there!

Lots on the web about inferior metal that is used in the manufacturing of discs from most quarters.

Lots more reading on the web and it seems that Tarox (Designed and made in northern Italy) discs are the ones to go for. Not cheap at £330 plus P and P for a pair of fronts. I guess, the old adage that you only get what you pay for.

Ordering a pair of fronts tomorrow. Probably the F2000 but possibly the G88’s.

Next step is to remove the front numberplate, the mounting bar behind to introduce a bit more air to the radiator and then experiment with opening up a bit to ventilate the brakes.

Can I just flag if you are prepared to drop £330 on front discs alone, then pads, I suggest you go all in on a Leon Cupra R set of brembos, adaptors, lines and pads, if you scour ebay and the Facebook groups you'll get a set for about £500-£600 ish and they are 330mm in size, or even a set of Porsche 987 Boxster S callipers, lines and adaptors and retain the stock 312 discs - I presume yours is 312?

Exactly! You are 5x100 not 5x112 right?
