Drift Limits … anyone tried them recently ?
Discussion
Hi folks
My lads 18th birthday coming up so planned to get him on some kind of experience on the track (and not in my car :-)). He passed his test aged 17 in May so it would be his first experience on a track behind the wheel so likely anything would be good enough….but I do want him to get the bug of track driving !
Anyone used Drift Limits and their super car experience ? Looks ideal (4 laps * 3 different cars) but personal experience would be appreciated.
Cheers

One of the best experience days I've been on was a rally day. A lot more time in the car than a supercar day, the instructors were happy to go over the finer points of "Driving like you stole it" and there were a lot more handbrake turns, drifting and mud than you'd get a track. Every time i blew my nose for days afterwards it was mud coloured. Loads of fun.
Another (Expensive) option would be track obsession. They do a full day track day hire in a prepared Clio RS 197, which you could both drive, and as it's a full day you'd both get plenty of time in the car:

I did drift limits last august, 14 laps in an audi r8 v10. Pretty good day out, instructors dont mind you pushing on, even when i went out in the pouring rain.
The supercar lap is mostly 3rd gear, occasionally 2nd for the hairpin. But a friendly instructor, happy for me to rev out the engine. Trying 3 different cars would be a blast.

Thanks folks...yes I'm looking at their SuperCar GP selection which is 3 cars for 8 laps each.

Given his only driving experience is currently in a VW Up! I think that should be enough to wet his appetite ! They are pretty non-committal on the website about what kind of cars will be available to choose from so always good to get first hand experience.
Thanks for the other suggestions, I'm trying to limit the cost as his "main" present is already a new Garmin Sports watch but felt like we would splash out on something like this as well given the amount of lockdown over the last 18 months.

I’d happily return for an experience there.
Nice way to enjoy various cars on a not too challenging track.
Instructors are good and encouraged me to push the cars.
I drove an Atom and R8 the former was awesome.
Wondering if for an inexperienced driver it might be all a bit too much too soon or maybe I was just a bit slower to learn how to extract the power from fast cars when I was an novice driver.
The instructor drives of the WRX are awesome

I sent my 70yo petrolhead Dad on this drifting half-day, and he had an absolute whale of a time. At £90, I think it represents excellent value.

Am I missing something here? £699 for car hire and the track day seems ridiculously cheap to me. https://trackobsession.co.uk/track-car-hire/

"A minimum of 2x15 Minute sessions with our on hand tutors"....suddenly seems less cheap
You can drive the car around as much as you want.
I was at a track obsession day on Monday at snetterton, and the hire cars were stripped clio 197s, with semi slick tyres and, given the amount of time they were on track, i would guess they had uprated pads too.
So you can hire them wih a freind, take turns hammering them around all day and hand them back at the end and get in a nice comfortable daily and cruise home.
