Hi all,

I'm looking for a new lid, my old one is a Bell Sport 3, with a MSA 2006 sticker!! It's been a while since I've needed a lid wink

Is it worth hanging out for the Autosport show to try on and get a deal - if they do any at the show? Or just mail order and potentially send back for a resize? I'm pretty sure a Bell / OMP would be the same size as before and measurements stack up so would be happy to mail order.

I'm also thinking it's worth paying the extra for the FIA 2015 spec rather than an ECE spec - as the former would mean I could do some sprints or hill climbs or the like if the fancy were to take me... Or is that an egregious position?

As always any advice for getting back into track days and some light weight competition would be welcomed.

Just go try a few on, it’s worth a few hours drive to GPR, Alex Reade etc to see what fits, what visors are available etc. I wouldn’t bother with the autosport show, any saving will be negated by the ridiculous admission and parking fee…

even if you’re only considering sprints/hill climbs at the moment, given you’ve already raced and probably still got in date nomex etc, it makes sense to get an eligible helmet.

I had no intention of competing so just bought the Sparco Club X1

Thanks for the info, Alex Reade isn't far from me so probably worth popping by at some point.

I doubt my nomex is in date, as it was 15 years ago now - blimey time flies!! I'll dig it out and see what the dates are... The price differential is substantial so maybe start with a track day lid, and then at least have a spare should I go for something a little more serious.
