Opentrack @ Bedford Sat 31st July
Discussion
Bit of a sad post from me (get your violins out)...
I'm heading to my first trackday this Saturday at Bedford, and the two people I would have taken with me are both unavailable, hence I will be going alone.
Just putting a message out there to see if anyone else is attending? Would be good not to spend the entire day alone!
Thanks,
Rich

I'm not going, but assuming your profile is up to date, my experience of MX5s is two-fold:
1. There are always several
2. They are a friendly bunch
I have often parked my TVR in the middle of them when alone at track days and joined in their fun.
I had a passenger ride in this one at Cadwell Park (obviously not when he was chasing me round the track).
The tyres squealed then too.....

Ask MSV.
Before COVID the answer would have been yes, though he wouldn't be allowed to drive or passenger
My grandchildren came to Cadwell Park and watched back in the day - boredom threshold was soon reached.
During more recent months the answer, when the track was even open, was a resounding no.
Since the relaxation of measures the rules my have changed again....so give them a call.

- If it's allowed it will be free. They will also be able to tell you if you can access the pits area with him and see the cars up close.
Good fun yesterday, met some people I knew and new faces, massively oversubscribed by Open Track though... 96 participating cars and what looked like half of the British GP crowd in the pitlane. Still, without getting a single clear lap I managed a fastest of 2:56 on the 180TW NS2Rs, I am normally around the 2:46 mark here so not terrible. Thankfully it stayed dry!
Snetterton next on the 10th of August

It was good to meet you Rich, great day on track!
There's always quite a few cars booked onto any Bedford GT day given the length of the track but I never had to queue to get on and found plenty of space on track... I agree with the number of spectators milling around though, I've never seen so many! I guess they're all making up for the fact they've only been allowed to spectate again in the past few weeks and it was a weekend day... All good fun!
