Hoping to connect with people who live in or around Bishops Stortford who also do track days. Mostly hoping to swap notes and general discuss organising the next session!

Not sure if there's a service that connects track day people? Maybe pistonheads is it...

Cheers!

Don't you just meet people at the track, swap numbers/contacts and take it from there?

Or are you suggesting setting up a committee to discuss setting up a diarised event to schedule the planning of the next get-together to talk about possibly meeting up to organise a track day?

The latter biggrin

It's some of the off-track stuff too like maintenance, and also planning trips to some of the tracks that are further out.

what car do you drive? most owners forums have sections for trackdays, or at least regional meets.

theres probably a facebook group for trackday goers in essex too.

failing that, put a post on here when you arrange a trackday to see who else is coming along, and then say hi in person on the day and take it from there.

718 GTS 4.0, I am on that group too but the meets are a ways away - I might go and follow up there though, thanks for the idea!

Go on the Porsche Club track days I've been on two with my dad. You end up speaking to lots of people driving same car or if you end up setting up in the same pit garage.

I get the OP’s request. It’s just nice to have car mates local. All my car pals live 2hrs+ away. It would be nice to have local ‘car fwends’ (Inbetweeners voice) to twiddle spanners and help each other out.

Exactly that!

I'm quite lucky as there's an M2 owner that I know nearby for weekend drives etc but he's just not quite as keen on tracking it (in fairness the time and money are big commitments).

I've moved a little further away from Bishops Stortford now (north Herts) but I've got to know people through owners forums and meeting up at track days.

To the OP, I have been trying to setup a forum to do exactly what you describe (link together local track day "enthusiasts").

If you want to be part of it, PM me and I will send you the details. It is nothing fancy (and I haven't started spreading the word yet) but the idea is for people to find local groups to travel in convoy with and/or list the track days they are going on to see who else will be there on the day.

As has been said above, I usually meet people on the day but for the tracks a little further afield from me, it would be quite nice to travel in a group. Sadly the vast majority of my friends have zero interest in cars and even those who do, aren't really interested enough to take them out on track (ie. they like the latest shiny BMW but they don't really care about how they drive). Hence, I travel this world alone (with my wife and friends gleefully taking the piss out of me for my hobby of, "driving in circles").

The url will be www.TrackRats.co.uk

Hmm. Not sure how to DM, only appears to be an email option which I can't do for your account?

I've updated my settings so you should have better luck now.

The key thing will be trying to build momentum and getting enough people signed up for it to really work. As I say, this isn't really my area so any help, suggestions would be super useful.

If you want to sign up to the forum, I'll make you an admin.
