Electronic aids and track days
Discussion
Took my Alfa Giulietta to Brands hatch a few days ago, it has an electronic diff rather than the mechanical diff I'm used to in the Gtv.
I found it very easy to corner at high speeds, although it was fun I guess the car was braking individual wheels resulting in slower entrance and exit times where a manual diff would just channel the power to the respective wheels.
Chatting to my mechanic (enjoys racing) he mentioned that if I pushed any harder and cocked a wheel the car electronics would likely consider it a problem and limit the power. Also if the yaw sensor detected a movement opposed to the steering wheel that could also kill the power.
I guess that's the advantage of cars with "Race mode" or cars that switch off ESP etc. Unfortunately some cars that can be fun won't allow it.
Kinda makes me think I should hold on to by 1998 Alfa Gtv for future track day fun or go for a modern car with a "race mode".
