Easytrack's summer calendar fills up
Book now to get a place, says the company
Easytrack says its summer track days are filling up. Imminent dates include:
- Oulton Park - Tuesday 19 July 2005
- Croix on Ternois, Dijon Prenois and Magny Cours - 16-19 July 2005
- Elvington - 6 August 2005
- Brands Hatch evening session - 11 August 2005
There's an official tie-up with Caterham Cars, which will provide factory-prepared Roadsport track day car hire, instruction and insurance. A day's use of a Caterham Roadsport including fuel, instruction, one session per hour and insurance is £399.
Prices for own-car track day use at an Easytrack day start at £99 a day.
Circuits on the 2005 calendar include Bedford Autodrome, Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Elvington, Goodwood, Mallory Park, Oulton Park, Silverstone, Snetterton and continental circuits like Magny Cours and Spa-Francorchamps.
Track days are growing massively in popularity, so they also need to be professionally run and tightly organised - and they need to cater for petrolheads with every level of budget, ability and experience," said spokesman Iain Macauley.
"We now have 15,000 members and the highest membership participation level in the UK if not Europe. That says that we've got it right. Our members are statistically amongst the safest people with whom to share a racetrack, with consistently fewer incidents and therefore greater track time.
"Our members are on average slightly older than with most other track day organisers, and there is a genuinely enthusiastic club attitude and approach. It doesn't matter whether the car they're strapping on is a £200,000 supercar or a £2,000 hot hatch, the interaction amongst ET-ers is fantastic.
"More and more car enthusiasts are being driven off the road by increasingly frustrating road traffic legislation. The only place they can extend their cars and develop their skills, and, crucially, have a great time doing what their cars were designed and bought to do, is the race track.
"We welcome members who know their limits and their cars' limits, and who recognise that they can have a tremendously rewarding experience by adhering to the safety-based rules and regulations we apply. Having said that, they're among people who really don't mind - and, in fact, encourage - red lining their motors and getting those tyres howling."

Easytrack are well organised track day company but they charge too much for an extra driver ! If two or more want to share a car shop around and you will get a better deal from others. BAT for example
I can't understand why second drivers should be so cheap. 2 drivers equals per car equals much more time on track for that car equals more crowded track. It's Ok to have cheapish 2nd drivers on sessioned events but not at open pit events which is where Easytrack seem to charge more.
you should split the cake into portions that would be enough for 1 person.
if that person decides to share their piece of cake with their mate/brother/colleague etc - why should they be charged more for the same slice of cake?
BaT have built ourselves up as one of (if not the) largest TDO in the UK - and our USP has always been the fact that we dont charge for 2nd drivers or passengers.
We dont charge but other TDO's do charge for 2nd drivers and passengers - occasionally to subsidise the main drivers - but mostly just because they can.
All IMHO and without wishing to offend anyone.

Also if there is a "cake" to split, surely if a driver brings along a second driver who can also have the same amount of "cake" that leaves less for other main drivers? (ie they both get the same size piece of cake)
A main driver may drive, say, 20 mins in an hour, but with a second driver who could also drive 20 mins per hour which in effect takes another complete trackplace.
If everyone took a second driver along wouldnt that double the potential cars on track?
I can understand you defending EzT - but how does your same argument work on their sessioned days where they still charge for 2nd drivers and passengers?
