HANS Device recommendations?
Discussion
I now have a half cage, bucket seats and 4 point ASM harnesses. Just need a HANS device to be able to use it all together.
Currently looking at the HANS Sport 3 medium 20 degrees device which seems reasonably priced at £280. And has the floating tethers which seem better for left and right vision.
It says its the lightest in its price range (650g), but just wondering how much the weight of these things will be noticeable at all (from a fatigue point of view, not wannabe race car weight savings ). I saw some priced at >£1200 to save an additional 150g so was wondering if the weight is an issue?
If anyone has used this particular one, is there any feedback? Or just general pointers / tips on HANS devices would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Thanks

I can't imagine weight is an issue unless you're really focussed on a superlight race series or something similar. When you're all strapped in you wouldn't notice if the Hans weighed 100g or 5kg. It's pulling down on your shoulders in the same way no matter. You're best looking at the comfort side of it. Make sure you get one with decent padding, and also make sure yours is well suited to the harnesses themselves. I run 3" shoulder straps and my Hans needs the extra wide plates with the lip on to stop the straps sliding off the sides. 2" appears to be much less needy in that department.

I had one of those years ago. Brilliant and you’ll never notice the weight. They’re super light anyway. Currently looking at the HANS Sport 3 medium 20 degrees device which seems reasonably priced at £280. And has the floating tethers which seem better for left and right vision.

Where are your shoulder belt pick-up points located and how are they positioned relative to you? What kind of seat do you have? With HANS, installation is so much more important than the selection of the device itself.
I am a HANS user but am curious about changing to Simpson Hybrid which has its advantages.
