Trying to find some tyres in stock - Nankang NS-2R
Discussion
Anyone know of a stockist who has these tyres?
https://www.nankangtyre.co.uk/products/motorsport/...
Ideally the size I need is:
275/30R19
But would settle for a 265/30R19
Either that, or can anyone recommend a similar tyre available in these sizes? Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for tyres in general. I'm looking for semi-slicks or maybe a UHP.Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 are available in 265/30r19 for £270 each at DemonTweeks. Pity you can't go to 265/35r19 as DT also have those at £128 each.
As has been mentioned, the Pirelli Trofeo R are also available in 265/30r19 at DemonTweeks - but they're £345 each. Again, pity you can't go to 265/35r19 as DT also have those at £203 each.
Toyo R888R are available in 265/30r19 at DemonTweeks - £274 each.
For a non-track tyre: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available in 275/30r19 or 265/30r19 for £209 each at DemonTweeks.
I suppose the issue for a lot of tyre retailers will be getting the stock at the moment - Camskill seem to be out of stock of a lot of normal track rubber.

I'm buying new rims with tyres fitted. I'm not sure if a 265/35R19 will fit and it is a bit of an expensive gamble to take sadly. They are about 20mm taller than what I'm after. And clearance is tight in places already.
I really fancied a semi slick, but I think I will have to settle with just a performance road tyre.
I have these options open to me:
- Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym 2 96Y XL
- Continental Sport Contact 6 96Y XL
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4s 96Y XL
- Nankang AS-2+ 96Y XL
The Nankangs are quite a bit cheaper. Half of me is saying, if I can't really get what I'm after right now. Just go with them. They seem to get ok reviews.
I know the Michelins are liked on here, although not all review tests seem to praise them quite as high. But a very good tyre no doubt. But it does increase the overall cost of the package by quite a bit.
Or if I should go part way and opt for the Eagle F1's.

The Goodyear F1 v2 is a very old design now - and the equivalent to the Michelin PS4S is probably the Goodyear F1 Supersport, or the F1A-5, so I'd price that up for a fairer comparison to the PS4S and CSC6 instead of the F1A-2 - if those are available in the 275/30-19 of course.I'm buying new rims with tyres fitted. However, none of the ones listed will stand up to much track abuse, as they're not a track tyre.
I notice there's also a Pirelli P-Zero available in your 275/30r19 size - maybe that's the interim option (in both price and spec) - but the reviews of them put them below the likes of the Vredesteins, Falken, Toyos and even Maxxis (in other sizes of course).
Maybe this will give you some food for thought?

OK if you want to end up in a ditch, that is!
Ditch (sic) the Nankangs from that list, the others are all superb tyres, (there are later Goodyear Assy series tyres that are potentially better still) the AS-2 are cr@p.

What about 18' wheels: this is normally the biggest size for a better of choice of semi-slicks.
Got 18’s at the mo. But they don’t clear the new brake kit. In theory the correct style 18” should. But it would be trial and error. So I’ve decided on going to 19’s for the clearance. Unless you're on track a lot, I wouldn't get too hung up about having "semi slicks". And, if you were hell-bent on semi-slicks for track, NS2Rs seem to be a compromise tyre with lots of limitations (don't take abuse on track, don't perform as well as the best UHPs in the rain).
The Pilot Sport 4S is a phenomenal tyre that won't be sketchy in the rain either (Apex run them as wets on their 500bhp Ring M3), and Blackcircles are offering them at about 200 quid fitted. Comfortably a better all-rounder UHP tyre than the NS2R if you're not going to be using heavily on track.

I've never really even considered the NS2R for track/fast road but this guy seems to rate them. Notice he mentions about the abuse they take. It would appear that he rates them as a faster tyre in the dry over the 4S to with ok wet handling. I've been Yoko/Michelin pretty throughout, however I might try these NS2R. The price point certainly favours them. The Pilot Sport 4S is a phenomenal tyre that won't be sketchy in the rain either (Apex run them as wets on their 500bhp Ring M3), and Blackcircles are offering them at about 200 quid fitted. I ran NS2Rs in 180 tread wear (they also do a 120). I have found they took a good amount of abuse and were very consistent when they plateaued after 2 laps and up to 10 laps. I imagine the 120 are not as resilient. I imagine that the 4S are as quick as the 180 for the first 3 laps and then start tailing off progressively. For road only use the 4S will be a far better choice - in fact the 4 will also be better.https://youtu.be/-0YWxSGTv78?t=528
Having run the 180 wear NS2-R's I preferred the Federal 595RS-R's which are a similar price and on paper should do a quicker laptime, looks like they only go upto 18" but they have some 595RS-PRO which may work in 19" (haven't used the PRO so not sure if as good as the RS-R).
