Track Day Insurance

Moris 100%
Beware of policies that are combined road and track. If you bin it on the the track it will affect your road policy. Standalone track policies don't affect your road insurance if you claim.
I claimed last year with Moris on a total loss (£75k). My road insurance wasn't affected.

I insure £30k worth of M2 with Moris for £120 a day with a £1,750 excess but had to buy 4 days to get to that price. But apparently it gets cheaper for repeat business. Will soon get a quote for next year.
It does get cheaper for both loyalty and multi-day premiums!I get 4 days at the 'Ring (TF) for £240 now...albeit only insuring about 2/3rd of what you do.
You'll also get a refund (minus admin fee) if your event gets cancelled (or you can't make it), as long as you notify them prior to the event. Only had to do that once in 10 years though.

That's good to hear, thanks. Had an other safe day yesterday at Outlton Park and driving on track with insurance is more relaxing and perhaps even safer as a consequence. I get 4 days at the 'Ring (TF) for £240 now...albeit only insuring about 2/3rd of what you do.

Tomorrow looks like a dry day at Goodwood, but on Cup2s I'll definitely be employing my insurance policy.

I’ve used insuremytrackday and Moris previously. I think I paid about £150 to get ~£27k of cover on a 2016 Focus RS.
Insuremytrackday cover £8k worth of Boxster for me at about 70 quid a day. Best thing is you can set it up online at very short notice - I've even remembered during the morning briefing and got it set up before the first session. My Elise is with REIS on a combined policy, 6 trackdays included (10% excess) for £300. They have to be notified 24 hours in advance, which is a pain when you forget!
Tried in vain to get trackday cover for my leased Tesla - I’d love to try it out on the track, but my risk appetite doesn’t stretch to the replacement cost!

Brilliant!!! I am normally happy with 6
I will eventually buy a track focused car (been saying it for 20 years).
Certainly the cheapest way to do it. The car itself obviously isn't cheap, but it's costing me very little for what it does. Certainly cheaper by a long shot over my previous Giulia QF.I will eventually buy a track focused car (been saying it for 20 years).

No doubt the running costs are very different but I probably haven't reached the break even point in terms of number of days yet . For around 5 or 6 a year (and they are usually in the off season when temps are much cooler) the M2 is proving surprisingly resilient on DS1.11 but it's no Lotus, although I can also use it as a "normal" daily. I'll probably switch when I totally retire at 55 ecain63 said:

Brace yourself! I had a total loss claim on a race car policy (not road legal) in a MSUK orgsanised race day 15 months ago. Now when I try to get road car insurance it comes up their systems as I have made a motor policy claim, they can not distinguish the fact that it was just a sum insured payout. I have been to the insurance ombudsman who back up the insurance company saying they are correct to put this claim on the system!Beware of policies that are combined road and track. Be wary the question they ask is ‘have you made a motor policy claim’.......

Lots of racing drivers have crashes. How can they be penalised on their road policy when the circumstances are totally unrelated and impossible to compare? Crashing in a race / on a track day is a risk that you can insure for, and you pay heavily for it. There's no third party liability and you insure your car and yourself if you wish. On the road the insurance covers totally different areas of law. Trackday insurance covers you on private property under a private legal agreement. Road insurance covers you on the public highway and on your property, it also covers 3rd party by law. It does not cover private property and is a contract based on standard vehicle road insurance guidelines.
I suspect the ombudsman is unfamiliar with the differences between the two insurance types and you've been dealt a short hand. I'd follow it up for sure.
