Hi - I want to book a track day at Goodwood as its local to me, but they are not manning their phone lines, does anyone know if a 991 gen 1 with a sports exhaust (obviously turned off) is ok on either of the 98db or the 105db days? Info gratefully received.

Does the valve open up at high revs regardless of on/off function?

I'd say you'd be fine on a 105 day but acceleration down any of the straights may scupper your 98db efforts. They are very helpful there but if you're over repeatedly they'll send you home. If the valves do open above XXXXrpm then you could just short-shift where necessary. I'm local too and it's a very sensitive circuit. The weather can make a big difference also.

If it's local to you, just pop down there when they do have a track day on and ask for them to give you a quick noise check.

Great advice - thanks fellas - will try and pop down to get it tested on the next day they are running. Very good point ref the valves, on further investigation the valves do open at higher revs with the sports exhaust on or off. So would probably need to shirt shift ... zzzz never mind. Thanks again.

Whether they are electrically or vacuum operated, i imagine anyone semi competent and possessing a jack would be able to disconnect them in the closed position smile

They open to protect the engine. Forcing them closed wouldn't be ideal, especially if it caused you to need Porsche assistance after.
