Got an afternoon trackday there this Friday, taking my C7 Corvette Z06 for its first track day (in my hands)
Have had a 450bhp Evo 6 for years which has been on track many times, but this is quite a different beast with 650bhp, rear wheel drive at a track I've never been to.

So any tips always appreciated.

It’s quick. Make sure you have good brake fluid you don’t wanna boil it, heavy car, pulling 150 to 160 in places.

Good point. Will check what’s in there currently.

Great track - I was there last weekend - had a blast until my engine let go!

Build into it slowly would be my advice - It's not a difficult track to learn, but it's fast - think 130mph apex speed at Fordwater, and ~140-150 down the Lavant straight before braking for Woodcote (this in my ~340hp Z4M Coupe - so will almost certainly be quicker with the Corvette!!).

It's a great atmosphere down at Goodwood in my opinion - and generally not loads of traffic so you can build into it without having to watch your mirrors all the time.

If you're planning to run with Traction Control off, just be aware that Fordwater (the only left hander apart from the Chicane) falls away off-camber from the apex down the hill - if you're right near the limit of grip this can result in a fair old oversteer moment!

Enjoy! And Get some videos up from the day too!

Thanks mate, good to hear.
I think even though I back my driving skills, I won't be turning TC off for my first track in this car.....650bhp with no aids might be asking for trouble!
Sounds like I'll be hitting some pretty good speeds! As long as I remember my memory card for my PDR, I should get some good video footage.

How loud is your car? I thought goodwood was quite a quiet circuit... id definitely carefully check the noise regs.

Well I'm a bit concerned as well, but we're booked on a day with 105db static and 102db driveby which seems to be the third loudest available at any track day......but I am still worried I'm going to be too loud on the driveby frown

I tend to turn ( slightly ) right at the flat out Fordwater.

It's my local but not driven it for 5/6 years. It is OK but 1 or 2 wheel on the grass can easily mean contact as the armco is quite close.
My main issue was how much the front left tyre overheats compared to the other side as all of the corners but one are right handers. Worth keeping an eye on.

No instructors allowed in a car with the driver due to social distancing. Things may change into Jul/Aug.

Yeah thought as much. I'll just take it a bit easy, no need to try and set any records, just going to enjoy getting this car on track for the first time.

I found the limit of my M3's brakes at Woodcote. Not sure what scared me more, brake fade at 130mph or when I pulled in the pits and ordered a bacon roll and a drink from the van and I saw the price.

I’m there for the afternoon session, starts 1330.
All day/morning drivers probably start at 0900 I think

That said, might want to check on the current rules on spectators though
