See the mention of new housing to the West of the airport here:

https://www.pbctoday.co.uk/news/planning-construct...

Even if the track isn't going to be sold for housing, I can't see it lasting very long if it gets hemmed in. Deeply ironic considering the flight path...

I suspect the houses will be built, sold and then people will complain

Again why does a COMMON SENSE clause not apply - DONT MOVE NEXT TO AN AIRPORT/TRACK/FACTORY if you can't deal with the forthcoming.

Firstly, it's a plan for 25 years' time.

Secondly, the plan isn't just to the west of the airport, it's a "planned housing development to the west of East Midlands Airport, Ratcliffe-on-Soar-Power Station and the East Midlands Gateway logistics site." So, it could be anywhere in the area west of those 3 places. For example, the M&S distribution centre on the edge of Castle Donington (the planners would be hoping that that M&S centre would move to the new logistics site).

I think the site of Donington circuit would be intolerable for housing as long as the airport is open. The noise, the very low altitude of the planes and the smell of aviation fuel would be horrendous!

They are building approx 850 houses to the north of the track already, and istr that the plan includes light industrial units between the houses and the track.

This is an old article announcing the start of construction. About half have probably been built now. You will see the new housing estate when you use the new Castle Donington relief road that is open already to the west of the village.

Stand by for complaints!

Like many of you, I have done a track day at Donington and felt moved to complain about the noise......from the aircraft taking off overhead.
