Simpson Hybrid & Harness
Discussion
Does anyone run 3" shoulder straps with a Simpson Hybrid or am I better buying a HANS specific 2" shoulder strap harness?
I've ran a 3" shoulder & 2" lap 6 point harness for a few years but as I'm "upgrading" to a caged car with slicks this season I bought myself a new helmet and Simpson Hybrid.
I know HANS mention 2" shoulder straps as they fit better over the shoulder but I can't see anything for the Simpson Hybrid.
Thanks!

I'd say you'd be fine with a 3" and a hybrid, as unlike the HANS it's not reliant on the belts as much. However you need to ensure the belts side within the winglets on the shoulders.
On the caterhams we had to move the points inwards (mounts behind head) with the hans but not so with the hybrid.

Thanks! Saves me buying another harness when the 3" one I have is in date.On the caterhams we had to move the points inwards (mounts behind head) with the hans but not so with the hybrid.
I run with a Simpson Hybrid, originally ran with 3" belts for two years with no issues, a significant improvement over not using the Simpson, you just need to ensure that the angles behind you to the mountings is correct and the belts sit fine but they do sit on the side lips.
Changed to 2" last year and the do hold better and tighter than the 3",
For now i'd stick with the 3" but when they are showing wear i'd swap to 2"
