Was anyone at Croft today. I was there and wondering if anyone had any comments on the driving standards..?

I did speak to the TDO, but apparently there hadn’t been any complaints...

Was there myself yesterday, The friend who's car we were sharing did make a few comments.

However, from my previous experience there on TD's I thought it was generally one of the better ones. Usual mixed bag of novices and racers which does have an impact. I'm saving my testing for the test day next week.

Croft is my local and the first place i want to do a trackday in my car once its all sorted. What sort of problems did you experience?

I saw some pictures from the day that a mate had taken and saw a lot of very fast track machinery, some race teams and then a few joe bloggs like me and this is the reason im going to be very anxious about booking onto Croft (My car is old and will be stuck in reverse slow in comparison to things like a GT3S etc). It seems that one TDO seems to have the monopoly on Croft too when i've looked.

One of the better ones...that is worrying. Maybe I was just in a bad mood. Probably getting on for 100 TDs now, but first time at Croft. Sometimes in a fast Westfield but yesterday in a budget MX5.

There were a lot of racers, which I don't usually have a problem with, and given the tone of the briefing in the morning I was expecting the TDO to take no prisoners but I couldn't believe the amount of red flags! I thought the standard of driving was pretty poor, considering overtaking was meat to be by consent, i'd have thought overtaking someone who was in the middle of overtaking someone else might be frowned upon.

A lot of aggressive driving almost trying to make the guy in front make a mistake, it seemed very much like a test day and a bit wacky races.

I spoke to the TDO in the morning, and again in the afternoon, but they didn't seem particularly interested so I called it a day at 1400. Really disappointing considering the price of the day and usually that TDO is ok.

Regardless of the driving standards issue from yesterday, I'd not be in a rush to go back to Croft, IMO it wasn't that great a circuit. Oulton and Cadwell both miles better, or Blyton if you want somewhere "safe" as a beginner.

We were there and it was better than my day the previous week at Donington, less Red Flags and seemed more free flowing with plenty space even though at first there did seem a few cars.

I’m new to track days and just have the common sense to let the better / more experienced driver past, like the open top TVR I think it was on the day.

I’m booked on Croft a few more day’s in the coming months so will see you around

Take care.

I've been round Cadwell as a passenger many a time and it's definitely on the list but not the first place i want to take my old 2002 (i had considered it on the BMW car club day but when i checked dates they didnt work sadly) Thanks for the Blyton suggestion, i'll check it out.

I was there on Monday, just watching from the sidelines. Did notice that the field was very bunched up for most of the morning, surely it defeats the point of a track day. Wouldn't you just hang back to get some clean space?

But also noticed a car or two on the bumper of another driver, lap after lap. Not sure who was at fault there, if the driver behind didn't want to pass or wasn't given the space to.

Anyway, I took a few snaps if anyone is interested in browsing -

What does Lionel look like, I'm sure I'll have got some pics. I took 1700 snaps in an hour and a half whilst I was there so I had to be a little selective when editing/uploading!

I remember that day with Peter. Christ, I've just looked and it was May 2010!

I barely had a clue what I was doing with a camera but did make a few nice shots. I'm guessing this GT3 RS is/was yours?

Heres the full album from that day https://www.flickr.com/photos/kurt_blythman/albums...

Where did it end up? My mate looks after one in the same colour scheme in the North East
