Basically, the question is:

Can i fit slicks on an otherwise standard car for trackdays?

Only the TD organiser can answer this .

Some will allow ,some won't.

Most will.

Although I’d question the need on an otherwise standard car.

I believe most will defer to the stance "any car fitted with slicks must have rollover protection".

As I found out too late that does not include a standard roof!

Every days a school day then, thats saved a potentially embarrassing moment.

Without knowing the car, you may potential run into oil starvation problems if it’s a wet sump.

Potentially worth a call just in case, or just turn up to an event near you & ask the organisers, but the above is what was stated to me by Bookatrack & Javelin.

Depending on the car, if it's otherwise standard I'm not sure slicks would necessarily work brilliantly anyway.

They generally want a decent amount of camber to work well, you'd also be putting a lot of additional stress on the standard suspension components and other bits.

As as previously been mentioned, certain cars could also suffer from oil starvation due to cornering forces it wasn't designed for.

and just be aware roll cages can be lethal for head impacts if your not wearing a helmet

He hasn't got one. A full roll cage also isn't something you just pop in either.

They do however I've seen people run slicks with no cage on most days(including the ones that say that).

Unless someone complains then I doubt you'd have any issues. I wouldn't bother myself, massively increased wear on the car, marginally faster but not more fun.
