This is a slightly odd request, but has no furtive reasons behind it, is it possible to gain pedestrian access to either Croft, Oulton park or the Anglesey circuits on non active days;

Have you tried contacting the circuits and asking?

My son passed away recently, he spent a lot of time doing trackdays, I want to scatter his ashes where it meant something to him. Officialdom tends to say no, so you can see my thinking.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your son.

Our neighbour's mum passed away recently and she was a major motorsport fan who specified that she wished her ashes to be scattered at Silverstone (I think - could have been Brands Hatch). Apparently our neighbour contacted the circuit in question with similar trepidation to that which you have and was very warmly received; the circuit receives many such requests and bent over backwards to accommodate her, to the extent of driving her around the circuit and allowing her to get out at the late mother's favourite corner to scatter the ashes.

Contact the circuit. If our neighbours' experience is anything to go by then you may be pleasantly surprised.

You could always just go when there is a track day on as a spectator & just do it.

My fears re letting the cat out of the bag as it were are based on some experience to date, but the friends experience is promising, Could you possibly find out for definite which circuit, we both watched the British Gran Prix in 2018, at
Silverstone, so that would be nice

I was working at Oulton recently and there was a gathering to scatter the ashes of a chap that used to marshal there. As has been said, it’s a fairly regular request.

ETA, I can put you in touch with the manager at Anglesey if it helps, he’s a very helpful guy.

I don't know how the owners would view it but I can confirm it would be very easy to walk into Croft and Oulton when the sites are closed, there is only a single bar barrier to stop vehicle access at both sites

Steve H , your offer of a contact for the Anglesey track would be good, we used to live in E Lancashire and Phil spent a lot of time there, 106 GTI, initially, then Elise and Finally Exige, before life intervened.Thanks

Fairly unrelated, but our primary school held an annual fundraising family cycle around Oulton Park, management might well have changed in the last 20 years but might not be as officious as your expectations.

My local circuit, Lydden, has actively accommodated ashes services .
From very casual affairs with a couple of people to a full blown ceremony with high speed laps and a religious element.
They tend to be very good PR for the Circuits

I’m sorry for your loss.

May I suggest being at the circuit early and scattering the ashes before the circuit activity begins? I can’t see where any objection could arise then. For me the crisp early mornings and the sounds and smells of engines warming up is one of the most exciting and visceral moments of the day.
