Exactly my thinking, with my 10% MSV discount code it came in at £80 on the full GT circuit for Monday - rude not to!

Hope you have a good session

A day of 2 half’s .

Woke up bright and early , made my way towards Bedford only to have low tyre warning light come on, followed by traction control failure ! Wtf ! Stopped off at the service station , as I knew it was related too
the new battery just fitted the night before. Thinking it was loose , retightened all connections but also
removed the anti theft connection on the negative side just to eliminate another possible issue.

Reset warning lights, try again .... 10 minutes later , same thing !! Getting pissed off now , £500 battery
and having problems !

Stopped again , noticed that the box that fits on top of the battery with the Ibs system and fuses was
a bit loose . So with some exhaust wadding sheets that I had , packed out the top to support it
and also underneath the battery to lift the entire thing up , so that the clamp secured tightly down on everything. Defo nothing loose now. Checked voltage from alternator at different revs , all good.

Let’s try again , 20 mins later nearly complete power failure while driving on the motorway !
bks !! Ok have to go back home and pickup the original lead acid battery , so back down motorway .

Fit battery , reset warnings . Drive to track with no problems ! Woo Hoo.

Had a great afternoon , cold but sunny 😎.

Car felt really great today , and I was really able to attack the corners now the suspension has been upgraded and big thanks to Matt at Spires for sorting out the geo ....

Had a great ding dong battle with a very well driven 911 during the last stint of the day , great fun and
we had a good laugh about it afterwards (hi if you are on here ) ...

Glad I booked and managed to make it in the end as we had a blast !!

Time to get a refund on the battery !

Mine was also a day of two halves...

Before lunch great, went and did the sighting laps on slicks to get a feel... turns out there was no feel, just slip, slapped on the slower NS2-Rs and all was well till lunch...

After lunch...

Eventually got home at 7pm courtesy of the AA (worth every penny IMO)

Turns out under load the engine moved forward, pushing the oil cooler lines into the fan (no shrouding - thanks Audi) and they had two gouges in them and I lost some 3 litres of brand new 10W60 Millers Nanodrive in the process. New lines are in, lines protected and engine mounts out of the car while I make my own 85A shore poly mounts and fit the Powerflex black doggone bushes and mounts...

On the plus, its lit a fire under my arse to get back working on getting more weight out of the bloody thing!

Sorry to hear of your problems but at least you caught it before the engine went
pop.!

Did the AA not mind that you were broken down on a race track ? Or did you have to push
it outside the gates?

We had a laugh about this as a guy in a mx5 had problems and was waiting for green flag I think,
can just imagine the breakdown guy turning up - you been on track ? Nope ... why have you
got a roll cage ? I work in scaffolding ..... why have you got a crash helmet ? ...it’s not mine !
Why are you wearing a race suit ? I am going to a fancy dress party !

The person doing the flatbed recovery (permanent 4WD in my case) usually doesn't care. I think its just a policy thing if you are on the actual racetrack. If you are broken down outside of the race track - in my case towed by organisers to the visitor car park, its a different kettle of fish, and the key is to not abuse it, I can fix most things, but some are too far gone. I know the AA have been good before for me, both from Rockingham and now Bedford. I head 3 other people had issues that day, an MX5 and another car that shed its supercharger belt, I assume everyone got collected ok.

I guess you could say you were applying for a job there? doing an interview... for a race instructor job and your car you were interviewing with broke down lol

Cheers Quimbles. It's a £750 Saxo so the £30 for a garage isn't really worth it hehe, it was more for me to have somewhere dry to go to. If they have bacon sandwiches then that's even better!

I am guessing its not an MSV day then? MSV at Bedford don't charge for a garage, its first come first serve, so if its Javelin they are marking that up lol

Yeah, it’s Javelin. Although I don’t think it’ll be that busy so hopefully we’ll all be able to fit in them anyway
