I have a stripped out Golf R32 and I have done 5 or 6 track days now but I have only been to Bedford and Abingdon.

I quite fancy Donington for BH. I live in Reading so both will be a decent journey and I have a trailer now too so speed will be limited.

Which one shall I choose?

Hey - fellow Reading-er here!

I've done both, but on motorbike.

I'd say do Doninington first, because it's easier to learn. Nice big, fast sweeping undulating bends, but you get plenty time between corners to plan your racing line and adjust as you learn the circuit.

Brands GP circuit, rather more technically demanding, corners can rush up on you a little more, is that bit more technical in my view.

I haven't had time to do a TD in the last 4yrs since my son was born, but I sometimes mentally 'ride' these two circuits in my sleep at night! It's great once you get a feel for the lines and put a fast lap in.

Either are good tracks, don't get put off by the length of brands indie. Just pick whichevers available on the day you want to do

You have to give donington a go... epic track. Fast and flowing, and you scare yourself every lap going down the craners.

Id say Donny, just because its a track I like.

Noise police are pretty tough there I hear.....

Donny if you like fast and flowing. Average speeds are scary there though. Brands Indy is a short lap so you can experiment with braking etc at each corner more often. I prefer Donny.

Last track day I did was Brands GP this summer. Brilliant circuit. Can't comment on Donnington but I've heard it's good.

Would say Donny over Brands, unless you can get on a Brands GP day.

Brands Indy is a great circuit but find most trackdays I've been on there this year have been overcrowded, which in turn has caused a lot of red flags.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will give Donington a go first then.

Its about time I took a man up pill and tried something a little more challenging.

Good choice, Donington is my fav. The GP layout isn't as good as the National in my opinion.

Enjoy,

Dunc.

Enjoy - I love them both. The first time you get Craner Curves or Paddock Hill Bend just right and carry loads of speed through it feels really special. Like all newbs you can tend to bimble through them at first, but once your confidence builds it's such a great feeling. Wish I had the time and cash to do more!

I found Brands to be slightly more beginner friendly. Donington is a stunning circuit but you are sharing the track with much faster machinery and therefore spending a lot more time letting cars through than experimenting with your own lines...
