Not a track day as such but looking to have a go and debating whether to take my own car (mini). Its a sprinkler on to polished concrete, how hard will that be on tyres?

Any other feedback welcome! Aiming for a few track days and I've always taken previous days very carefully as doubt my ability in a loss of traction situation. Would be good to recognise when it's about to go and hopefully control it.
Plus reckon it'll be a good laugh!

It will be a great laugh. I’ve not been on it there but did Rockingham skid pan.
Don’t worry about your tyres.

Cheers, hoping to have a good laugh whilst learning some useful skills.

Haven't actually done one myself, but I think it would be a good learning tool, and good fun too. It would be good to do it in your own car as you'll be able to feel what your exact car tells you - the skills you learn about car control can be applied to any car, but better if it's your own because it'll be familiar if you got out of control in your car afterwards. As it's a skid pan full of water, tyre wear should be reduced compared with doing the same activities on a dry surface. Thruxton experience days are good so I'm sure a skid pan day will be no different!

It's pretty good actually. FYI they already have a mini there that you can use in conjunction with a GT86.

I would have liked a larger skid pan with more emphasis on drifting rather than controlling a slide but it was still well worth it I'd say.

Thanks all, booked in for a couple of weeks using my own car. They do indeed have a mini but if you do the normal sessions you drive with a passenger and swap over.... might as well go solo and get used to the feel of my own as its only for an hour or so.

Would like a go at RWD and maybe even some drifting at some point, but really want to get some track days in. Got my eye on Abingdon the same week, work depending...

Abingdon will be good to do once you've got a bit of confidence with losing grip - you can have some fairly big moments on that track without going off due to the width of the track.

Just booked it. I've done it before about 5 years ago and that was the last time I was out on track actually. Was nice and dry so had a blast but always conscious the car had more to give then I let it.

When I had my Maserati I did a skid pan day, it was an awful lot of fun, highly recommend it
