How to stop hazards flashing under heavy braking?
Discussion
Gents,
My google skills are failing me. What types of sensor are used to activate the indicators/hazards under heavy braking and/or how do I stop it happening?
If it's a pressure signal from the brake lines can it simply be snipped (looped) or can this be turned off as an option in the ECU usually?
There's nothing more annoying to me than driving around with the hazards on uncontrollably.
My car is an MX-5 ND but this must now happen on many cars!

Why don’t you try modulating your braking instead?
On track, you can trigger ABS easily. Also, on my particular car (BMW) and many others, it is done at a deceleration rate, not ABS triggering or a given brake pressure.
You can usually code it out via OBD with a suitable piece of software.
Thanks for the OBD trick I'll get on ebay and find a good cable and software package for the car. I hoped it would be possible (like the seatbelt warning) but wasn't sure if I'd be wasting my time/not accessible.
As per this. The light flashing is triggered long before ABS intervention and even if you apply the brakes gently initially (to settle the car) and then increase pressure as the nose dips.
It seems to be pedal pressure related as you can stop sharply on cold brakes but as they warm up and you need to apply more pressure you trigger it more frequently.

If you modulate so much that the lights don't come on then it's not really track driving anymore. They come on way before ABS being triggered.
