My Z06 Corvette is bloody loud, so I'm just going to assume that the usual track day limits of 101db or so would just be too low for me.....are there any days people with loud cars can go......or do I have to head to mainland Europe?

Well, rockingham used to do unsilenced days, but rockingham is no more... Maybe donington do unsilenced days occasionally?

That said, how loud is loud? Most circuits are happy to noise test your car, just turn up early doors and do the noise test, then you'll know for sure.

That said, donington is 98db drive by anyways, which is super loud. Never known anyone be too noisy for donny.

Goodwood run alternate 98db and 105db track days.

Silverstone GP day you should be fine. They have a few days coming up which don't require a static test.

Past few times I've done GP they haven't bothered doing static tests and rely on the 102db drive by limit.

Donington were certainly doing unlimited days last year but I’ve got a feeling they might have been test days. Worth asking I guess.

The 105dB days at Goodwood are great! Only 5 cars on track so you pretty much have the whole place to yourself. Last time I went there was a 458 race car there giving it full welly so I doubt your Corvette would be an issue.

Silverstone also good as 102dB is very loud for a drive by.

Anglesey... as the sign on marshal said to the guy in front of me in the queue when he asked about noise tests... 'there are none, we only worry about noise if the RAF complain...'

Thanks for the reply guys, sounds like there might be (limited) options for me out there then. Probably best I book onto one of the loud days and get tested there and hopefully actually get on track rather than book a 'normal' day, get tested then sent away!

A 991.1 GT3 tickles that limit with the sports exhaust on. They run unsilenced days which cost a bit more, but you can pretty much run anything.

^ you’re going to laugh at this then....a friend with an R53 Mini Cooper S track car has been black flagged for noise at Donington a couple of times on a Javelin track day a year or two back - they admitted that the noise detection equipment (which is monitored by the local council apparently) was very sensitive & didn’t chuck him off the track though said he’d need to be aware of where the equipment was. My friend ended up staying away from other cars and lifting past the noise detection posts - he reckoned it was the supercharger whine that caused them to be set off.

Make the car quieter. It’s pretty rubbish to have to rule out a load of brilliant circuits because of noise.

I'm no expert but I read on an Anglesey thread they do test, it's just hit/miss whether they test the day you attend....

Unless things have changed more-recently?

Well I never knew that! They've never tested on the days I've been there (my MINI is whisper quiet in any case...) but they do measure drive by noise in order to keep a record and prove to the local authority that they don't need to carry out noise tests (or so I thought!).

Oh sorry, I assumed you meant they don't perform static or drive-by

This was the thread I was reading:

So I've seen a Brands Hatch day next week......105db static....I'm thinking the 'Vette might make it through that.....but then 92db driveby......that puts me off.

Anyone had experience with the Brands drive bys? The last time I went a few years ago I think it was just static tests.....

They always do drive-by testing at Brands due to the proximity of housing. First sensor is in the dip past Paddock, the other is coming onto the start/finish. They’re also very hot on track limits.
